Online Order Entry And Validation
#41
(08-29-2014, 03:30 PM)DuPont Wrote: Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but the program does not seem to recognize order 726 - the movement order to go through a transport portal. I wouldn't expect it to be able to totally check it as it would have no way of knowing where the portal is, but it should say 'The 1WE is attempting to teleport via a portal' or something along those lines.

I have an outstanding request to support on all the artifact orders that need to be verified. Here's what the program currently checks for:

Artifact Order Validation
• Great Orator: [471 <region num>]
• Bats, Pegasi: check max 7 areas, not end on water [727 <group> <map>]
• Gem: check not end on water [729 <group> <map>]
• Stone: [801 <same as order 799 checks>]
• Palantir: [972 <shortname> <map>]
• Crystal: [973 <shortname> <map> <map> <map>]

Since support has been busy, let me know of any other artifact orders not listed above and I can make the change...

Try submitting them again to support since your original email may have gotten lost if support was busy at the time. I could manually enter your information if it's an emergency but we're trying to use Cipher's new program to assign passwords to each account and need to verify that the procedure is working properly.

Eventually, the entire game signup procedure will be fully automated. Not just assigning new usernames/passwords for everyone but the entire game signup process will be handled online. So instead of signing up for a game by posting on the forum, players will go to a web site to choose a game of their preference: steel, magic, primeval, titan, ...etc. and be queued up for the next available game.

I'm also trying to convince the powers that be to go big with this and allow players to customize their kingdom setups at the same time. It would be really nice to spend something like 10 points towards customizing your initial kingdom for an extra point of influence, baron, or wizard (similar to the new ESO where you spend points for a custom reward).

I'm hoping that Rick has some free time to do the design because I can easily write the code for all of this with the current version of the game (fingers crossed). Smile

I really like this idea and think it would add a lot to the variety of the game.

Maybe points could be spent to upgrade starting emmies to higher ranks. Or points could go towards buying an adept or adding a general.

FYI,
As of 9:30pm EST (Friday), the security data for the online system was wiped clean somehow and I reported it to support to investigate. No one will be able to login to use the software until this problem is fixed.

The online order entry and validation program was tested with following browsers:

Internet Explorer 11
Firefox 30
Chrome 37
Opera 24
Safari 5.1.7 (Apple discontinued this May 2012 but it still works)

If you're using an older version then let me know and I'll see what I can do but the newer versions have better handling and stability for displaying web sites (including our online order entry).

Due to a request, I added instructions and notes about the online order program to the login page since not all players access the forum for news. When you click on the link, your browser should prompt you to either open the file or save it. I recommend saving it since some browsers have issues opening up Word documents in their session (even Microsoft's Internet Explorer and they created Word!!). When I have time, I'll convert the Word documents to PDF, HTML, or maybe just a plain text file so these problems won't occur again.

Ok after reading Cipher's response will change the order checker to allow 205/206 for early artifact transfers.

There are no existing plans to remove the ability of having your kingdom's merchants relocate artifacts at the kings' bidding (orders 205/206), this provides for flexibility in when you'd like the artifacts relocated (205/206 v 910) in the order sequence while giving you the opportunity to spend one or two orders depending on how important that sequence placement is.

Helpful info, thank you. Always did the 910 order well after I needed the artifact elsewhere. Always wondered why I could get an artifact across the board to someone else early on but could not move it to my own folks. Thanks for clarifying.

Just want to give UncleMike and the Alamaze staff a big thanks for getting this order entry done. Beside the checking of turns. I am absolutely loving how fast my last couple of turns have been processed and e-mailed out.

I can also already see how much it is helping Rick do what he like to be doing. I have seen more development stuff in the last week or so than I have in months.
