Speed spell .. 718
#1
Thumbs Down
Does casting Speed allow a group to forced march as well?

My example would be my 1AN wants to move across 6 plain hexes... If I use order 720 the most I can move is 5 hexes while forced marching. Would my lvl 2 wizard casting speed (order 718) allow me to make it across those 6 hexes?

That's what I get for trying to read my spell list on my iPhone ...Clearly states in the spell description " can not be used for a Forced March"

The speed spell allows a group to travel 25 movement points without suffering the morale penalty form a force march,

Are you sure about this? Even a P1 wizard, which according to the spell description would only receive 2.5 extra movement points? Many thanks.

THE WIZARD CREATES AN INVIGORATING AROMA WHICH GREATLY AIDS THE GROUPS
MOVEMENT CAPABILITIES. MOVEMENT ALLOWANCE IS INCREASED 2.5 PTS. PER LEVEL
OF THE SPELLCASTER. (POWER-2 CASTER'S GROUP COULD MOVE 25 POINTS.) USE IN
PLACE OF NORMAL MOVEMENT ORDER. LIMIT OF 8 AREAS MAXIMUM MOVEMENT. THIS
SPELL WILL NOT INCREASE SEA MOVEMENT AND CAN NOT BE USED WITH A FORCED
MARCH. COMPLETE COLUMNS "C" ON TO INDICATE INTENDED MOVEMENT AREA BY AREA.
USE 2ND LINE OF INPUT SHEET IF NEEDED.

I'm not aware of any kingdom that gets Speed as a Power-1 Spell (the Sorcerer kingdom, which supposedly has the best spell list, gets it at as a Power-2), so 25 movement points at a minimum sounds right. But you are right, it could be more (or less, theoretically), depending on the level of the caster.

My old charts show WA and GN with 718 at power 1. This may have changed but most of the info on the list has been correct.

So for WA and GN, it sounds like it's 22.5 and not 25 movement points for a P1. Conversely, do you get 27.5 movement points for a P3?

Would love some confirmation of this if at all possible... I've heard too many people say that it just gives you a flat 25 points for the casting.

Good to know, Hawk.

I would assume that the effect of the spell is as described in the spell description, HeadHoncho, until we hear specific evidence to the contrary.

Reasonable assumption, I have just heard this comment (force march without penalty) so often, from different people, that it makes me wonder.

I have used speed > 25 movement points several times. It works as advertised.

You can also forcemarch and double feed to offset morale loss if your morale is <120.
