Sometime today access to the game server went down. I have been on the phone with Soft Layer who does our hosting and they have not been able to solve the problem, but they are looking at something to do with Microsoft. I am trying to reach genome (our programmer) but as of now, 3:46pm Monday, no one can access the games. Will update when I know something more.

As of now, Soft Layer has recovered the database (all players, games, etc) but no longer provides the SQL Server that housed them. Genome will need some time to figure out if we can run the dbase off the windows box that has the websites (the server that runs the games is a Linux box), or if need to acquire another SQL server to restore access.

Genome says he thinks sometime Friday for installing and testing the new SQL server. Sorry. The problem is the company I had the deal with was The Planet and it was sold to Soft Layer who calls our SQL server "legacy" that they don't support, and also don't offer intallation support of SQL even at a price.

Update - genome made good progress, working until past 1am. We have the dbase installed, and players can sign in now. However, we are missing a table that Soft Layer didn't include in our backup that recognizes "ready" and associates players with the games, so we as yet cannot load games.
It is possible that when the games are available, we will have to roll back a turn or 2 if the server processes all games past due.

Lords,
Due once again to the heroism of genome, the evil that befell us at the hands of Soft Layer the Black has been overcome. All should be able to access their games now. Because we were down for about 68 hours (from Dec 17 8:30pm), ALL GAMES were rolled back one turn to the last turn everyone had a chance to submit orders for, and all games are due about 70 hours from the time of writing this.
For the record, this was Soft Layer, who ignored the agreement I had with the company that they bought, The Planet, discontinuing the server with our database without even any notification. Bottom line, with what genome has accomplished, the problems of Dec 12 and Dec 17 should be resolved.
