What we have here is a foreign policy based on Chinese ballons. Pop his bubble. Oh great.. Wait, what's your name? I seem to have forgotten. It feels like it is on the tip of my tongue, but it escapes my memory.

You are in MY territory on a location of MY artifactr. Since you are new, I will make you this offer: Leave without the artifact, and I will let you live. You must respond to this post in a timely manner, otherwise I will attack.

Just now reading this forum message.

The artifact just happened to be there. I was in the process of pulling the army back, per Rellgar's advice to me a couple of turns back. I inadvertently missed last turn, due to real world/family socializing. I just never made it back home in time to finish filling out my turn orders. So, for me, last turn probably only got about 3 of my initial turn orders processed. I'd have to double check, to be sure.

And now, you have attacked me. Yeah, that whole Turn 7 Propaganda that I read about elsewhere turned out to be one of those, "fool me once, fool me twice" kinds of things. A learning process, indeed!

You're attacking a kingdom that literally is still trying to learn the "language of this game." The advantage, accordingly, lies with you. However, just as there's more than one way to skin a cat, likewise, there's more than one way to deal with a lizard.

Anyone in this game that wants to coordinate with The Forgotten, until such time as my kingdom in this game ceases to be, feel free to message me directly. The Lizard Queen will likely seek to devour my kingdom's assets. That's not really in the interests of other kingdoms that might be wary of the lizard men. The term lizard men is an oxymoron, is it not? Can they not make up their mind what they even are? I say this, being the forgotten race, the forgotten kingdom, The Forgotten.

Having already spent most all of my kingdom's gold, I can't even issue a full set of orders. No one's fault but my own, and my distaste for this sort of approach to issuing commands/orders to characters extends back to my limited Fall of Rome days.

I'm just trying to get my kingdom on its feet, and now war, itself, has come to my door. I have a few assets available to me, still. Perhaps others can and will aid me in rising to be a better, more capable foe to these half-lizard, half-men whatever the hell that they are. My kingdom is going to go down in flames to someone. Killing lizards on the way out is as good of a way to go, as any.

Ironically enough, in Hyborian War, I don't play to win the game, as that was a very anti-climactic experience, back in HW-165. Instead, I play to help others lose. I would like, very much if at all possible, to help Windbag's lizards lose. Being cold-blooded, the lizards naturally sought out what they perceived to be weak prey. Even weak prey can wound, though.
Maximus, I took no pleasure in attacking your group. I gave you fair warning, and I waited over a day (out of 2 days for the game) for you to respond. I understand that Life has its moments which occupies our time, but I did try to find a way out of this mess. I understand that you were just moving through my region, but you should have made it home by now. It is important for everyone to check the Forum to get the latest info on the games.

None of this justification changes the fact that an experienced LI player wiped out a newbie's group over an artifact that was in the wild. It's an artifact, not yours to claim.
Oh well, winning is everything, courtesy to newbies is nothing. There was no mess to find your way out of. Just race him for the artifact and move on.

This is not the first time that an experienced player attacked a newbie over an artifact. A time ago, Rellgar was playing the RA in The Untamed Lands, and I was playing in the Mythgar. On turn 4 I believe, he came into the region demanding the Enigma Unusual Encounter for a P2 wizard. I told him that I already had it, so he attacked me anyway. I heard from Maximus that he was looking to take an artifact in the wild, and how he got some bad advice on what you need to get itl So I was going to give him the same lesson that was given to me. The thing though, I remembered that lesson and continued to play the game.

BTW: remember that this is only a game. I don't hold grudges about people who attacked me, and I don't attack others based on history. We all want to have fun.

Let's not jump on Windstar too much here, or you may end up losing an experienced and reoccurring player for someone who's just sampling the game. Besides, the Forgotten kingdom didn't lose that much anyway: 1 brigade and a couple of low-level wizards, of which he wouldn't have lost if referenced the rulebook (see attachment below or page 98 of rulebook).

To Maximus and Windstar, I had a rough start to my first game of Alamaze as well. I played a 1st Cycle Sorcerer in the Northern Mists battling the Barbarian (see Classic map: http://fallofromegame.com/alamazeorders/...lassic.gif). Back then the spell lists were printed on cool parchment paper, which was different from the normal kingdom turn paper, and I wanted to collect all of the spells in the game.

I entered the game wanting to raise a single wizard to the highest level possible. That actually helped me against the Barbarian, I just needed to increase Zalkalzar from pwr-2 to pwr-5 for Demonic Visions (see attached Cycle 1 Sorcerer setup).

That regional spell tore through the Barbarian forces, and I would have gained control of the Northern Mists in my first game if it weren't for his buddy, the Underworld, who tried to assassinate all of my wizards before turn 6. Having two gang up on you like that sucked, but some of his high-level agents died in the process as well.

Later, when I played a 2nd Cycle Witchlord in the Mists, I made all of my wizards pwr-5 wraiths and immune from assassination (see attachment). I guess I was paranoid for quite a while after that initial game...

Well, anyway, even if you're attacked early on, hang in there. Alamaze is a decent game, and your next experience may be a better one. It was for me. Having pwr-5 wraiths that were immune to damage/assassinations was awesome for me.

I forgot to mention, DuPont was in that Witchlord game as well. I don't remember if we tangled together, but I would have won :>

No, what we have here is the raising of awareness of a one Marshal Red Fang to other powers within the game.

I, myself, don't have to defeat these lizard folks. I simply have to impact the margin of difference between winning and losing, to help ensure that the lizards do not prevail in this particular epoch of Alamaze.

Now, as to whether other powers have any actual interest in such information or not, who's to say, and especially at this still-early point of the game?

On a personal level, you're fine, Windstar2.

Now, as far as your opinion that I should have "made it home by now," and that "everyone should check the forum to get the latest info on the games," I'll take that one with a grain of salt. I'm in a game of Alamaze that I don't actually have time to play, one which processes on a turn schedule that is wholly at odds with my actual reality, and my real world family considerations were of vastly greater importance to me than checking to see if other kingdoms were coming after my groups wandering lost and loitering here and there.

Besides, I already took a village from you, didn't I?

As for checking the forum to get the latest info on this particular game, there's really not very much in the way of info, latest or otherwise, on this particular game in the forum. It isn't exactly as though the players are lighting this particular forum thread up with banter and details, you know. Hell, I'm about to fall asleep, it's so quiet in here.

Mu-hahahahahahaha!

Give him hell, VballMichael! Nasty little lizards! Scum of the Earth, no doubt.

I was aware of the artifact sighting, after my group stumbled upon it. I wasn't going after the artifact, though. That particular group had low morale, and as such, it couldn't move very far, very fast.

Generally speaking, I don't expect much in the way of mercy from a species that is cold-blooded. That would be kind of out of character for that race, wouldn't it?

Somebody had to be the scoundrel that jumped the new guy while he was having a long dinner with his youngest sister, right?

In Hyborian War, I don't show mercy upon a player, just because they're new. To the contrary, it is my high duty to open their eyes quickly to the dangers that lurk all about them, and primarily where the dangers that emanate from my own kingdom are concerned. tell me - how many times is the word "mercy" mentioned in the Alamaze rulebook?

I can save you the trouble - exactly zero!

This particular Lizard King seems quite content to give the location of his forces away, early in this contest. The real threat to his kingdom and to his armies isn't me. Rather, that lies elsewhere.

And I'm quite familiar with plays spinning words, crafting excuses, and making pretense at justification for their antics. This one is no different. He jumped quickly, though, so perhaps he is a frog, and not a lizard.
