No, probably not half of them.  They knew what they were in for when they volunteered for special forces.

Anyway, that's the best that can be done for a custom game.  If this doesn't fill in the next few days we will pull it and have the usual menu.

Regions started out with two kingdoms so you're going to have conflict right away on who's going to get control of the region or decide an even split. If even split then others see that as a vulnerability and ripe for the taking since both kingdoms are weakened.

Also, expansion into your next region occurs much earlier than a normal game so expect a faster-paced and hard fought game in the early going. It'll be a challenge for some kingdoms which take a while to get going (e.g., wizard types) but if you know what you are doing or want a challenge, go for a magic kingdom and good luck.

As for the feasibility of a slugfest game, I believe the game queue already has this functionality so the game setup will be automated as usual. No custom game setup is necessary but Rick will decide any setup costs associated with this game format.

The biggest problem is finding 20 people who want a brutal slugfest experience instead of a more peaceful and gentle game where they can grow and do other things like find artifacts or build recruiting forces up to massive levels before heading out...

If Mike wants to ride herd on this, let's go ahead and give it a try.  I don't recall a 20 player game: why was it 20 players instead of 24 positions, which could be 12 players each with two kingdoms?  I'm surprised the 20 players is not a problem because we wanted to make Primeval 6 players instead of 5 with the change to 13 regions and that seemed to not be practical.

I don't like the full diplomacy for this. Maybe if no one can ally or trade. If you want to increase your resources it should be 100% on your actions alone, build up or expand.

I think it would add some interesting facets.  Do you reach out to your region mate and try to split the region?  Do you reach out to a neighbor and try to form a duo?  Sure, vets will have their relationships going into this, but it could also be like the show Survivor where as soon as an alliance is suspected, those people are targeted by the rest.

I dunno... I just like the banter.  I hate silent games.

I'm not sure I agree.  Its still very obvious to me, for instance, that some of the returning players are a little fuzzy on what "forum only" diplomacy means.  When you remove legal diplomacy from the game, you just hamper those who play by the rules, and allow those who don't to have free reign.  Its doesn't take more than a few well timed divinations and recons to see two people with similar interests.  Its no illusion... if you gentlemen catch my meaning.

Yeah, that I can't dispute.  I doubt this game will fill anyway, Rick said he was pulling it in a few days.  If it was just a slot like every other game, and someone got busted out early, they could just jump into a new game no harm no foul, but the "all in" really isn't fair to newer players.

This would need to be silent, random regions and random kingdoms. In my opinion.
