...just my opinion, but the championship should be about performance, that year, not potential performance.

Going by the previous year's performance would be the traditional approach but I think we should also consider that there's not that many people left who play Alamaze so it may be a good idea (sportsmanlike-wise) to give everyone a chance to play in a playoff round. That way, our smaller player-base would remain more friendly towards one another and more competitive in the sense that everyone would be going for the win. Many times, I play a game just for fun like trying to set the record for the most artifacts or such and there are others who don't play hard the entire year in order to establish themselves to qualify for a championship tournament. So with those two factors being considered (smaller player-base and that not everyone plays at a go-for-the-jugular level throughout the year), I think it would be best to allow everyone who wants to play in a championship tournament should be allowed to participate this time around.

Hm, well, I guess I'd be open to this if its popular, and I'd be happy to organize and manage it if this is the way we go, but I wouldn't play.  What kind of games would you suggest would constitute the "elimination rounds"?

Just an example, to be fair. Obviously, because I won several times in 2020, I would delegate those picks to servants who would do my fair bidding.
