Maelstrom Test Game
Both:
I built a Wizards Tower AND attempted to train to P6.
Wizards Tower is order 611. Magic Research is 799

Received message:

Starbringer A Wizard Tower or Great Mage Tower is required to research past 5th level
(Area FC).

Order checker gave an error but I ignored it assuming it was just checking against prior turn. But turn results also said I could not train.

About the magic research thing with wizard's tower, please try again for turn 11. Create a wizard's tower at another pc, move group there, and level a pwr-5 or higher wizard. It should work when the turn runs.

I don't think the order entry website traps that error because there was complaint in the past to allow wizards to level at non-kingdom-owned pc's to consider the possibility of their group just conquering a pc that turn and leveling their wizards at that location.


So the website was trapping that error before (of verifying wizard is at a kingdom controlled pc but not newly conquered ones) but that check was removed a long time ago to allow players to have a more accurate posting of remaining gold after leveling a wizard for subsequent orders after 799/800.

One of the trickiest part to code in Maelstrom was to clear siege when a pc that didn't have a castle, suddenly created one to deny further siege attempts. So someone, have a group lay siege to a pc without a castle (1st turn), have pc owner create a castle (2nd turn of siege which will still be successful), and see if the siege attack is repulsed and pc production returned back to normal on turn 3 (siege is cleared). A complex series of events but one that I would like tested by another.

not sure if it matters, the snapshot map shows area XR,XS andXT as plains but it appears to be a forest square or at least YS is a forest square

I am not sure if the TY has just been unlucky. But I have tried rite of the magi like 5 times with different wizards, one time i was no at a pop center but the other times I was and have had no lucky anytime getting a p1

I am moving to another pc and will try the wizard tower/train next turn

If anyone wanted to move to my capital at FC and test the sieging I can build the Castle once the siege starts.

How long is this game going to last?  I think I recall hearing somewhere it was just 12 turns?

Probably another 2 turns or so. Still need to test a few things with fortifications.

I can end the test game next turn. BTW, I just made the change to remove bonuses to pc defenses (c.f. new release notes). Rick wanted more done but there's no time so this last adjustment will have to do until my next break. I'll choose a random kingdom to be the conceded winner of the test game. Thanks for participating.
