Some Specific Design Ideas for Maelstrom
#31
Minor aesthetic note:  I'd like "food" to become "supplies" and "groups" to become "forces" and possibly for distinction "patrols".

Food doesn't adequately describe the things needed for orders that require supplies.  "Groups" sounds political or vague.  "Forces" invokes military.

Dragons as Characters.

Assume five dragons, each unique, in five different regions.  All grant a patrol flight via #727.  Each Dragon is worth 400 status points (25% or 100 for interim awards).  If the patrol wins the encounter, the dragon is subdued (not killed) and joins the group possibly as an artifact.

·        Red Dragon Kalameet.  In mountain terrain.  Adds greater of 2000 points or 15% to group combat value each phase and 15% to defense.  Causes Fear (-10% opposing group morale, intrinsic ability).  Superior sighting.  Can cast Fireball as P3.

·        Green Dragon Rhaegal.  In forest terrain.  Adds greater of 1000 points or 10% to each phase of attack and 10% to defense.  Can cast as sole action either Sleep or Create Food.

·        Black Dragon Drogon.  In swamp terrain.  Adds greater of 1000 points or 10% to each phase of attack and 10% to defense.  Can cast as sole action either Fear (as P2) or Kill Leader as P3.

·        Gold Dragon Ancalagon.  In desert terrain.  Adds greater of 1000 points or 10% to each phase of attack and 20% to defense. Can cast as sole action either Create Gold (as P3) or Charm.

·        White Dragon Viserion.  In plains.  Adds greater of 1000 points or 10% to each phase of attack and 10% to defense.  Can cast as sole action either Fertile Fields (as P3) or Heal (as P3).

Want to eliminate Locate Character spell.  Problematic with keeping certain cool names, rulers, dragons, etc.

Blue Dragon- (pick  name)- In sea. Adds sea movement instead of flying. Adds Sea Quality bonus to attack and defense. Can cast sole action of Storm at Sea or increases Sea Patrol area to the entire sea.

I particularly like the dragon idea.  Sounds cool.

I suggest that in Maelstrom the wizard kingdoms should rely more on spells for their forces and let the non wizardly kingdoms have access to the more diverse choice of 565 troops.

Interesting.  The land called Honali is under consideration for one of the mythical cities in Maelstrom.

Historians may argue about the specifics of the legend of said Puff, but our scribes find this inscribed:

"Oh, Puff the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honali
Puff the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honali"

Is there an echo here? Maybe I should have been a song writer - doesn't seem too complicated.
