After getting acquainted with Alamaze in regards to: 3rd cycle, all the different game types (Primeval, Confederate, Warlords etc.) silent, diplomacy... I have been thinking about how different each game is.
Each has its own very unique dynamic and each game you must take into account all the variables that may affect an individual game, such as: the kingdoms bordering you, the players that are bordering you, whether or not its a Diplomacy game or silent game, whether or not you are controlling one kingdom or multiple kingdoms, kingdom synergies...
I was thinking about how cool it would be to create a game that has all 24 kingdoms available to play. So now, there are four dispersed kingdoms and EVERY region has two kingdoms residing in it.
In 2nd cycle, some kingdoms had the luxury of having their own region, while others were cursed with that fact that they had to share a region with another kingdom. In 3rd cycle, unless a dispersed kingdom (primarily the RD or TY) decide to be mean and try and take your home region, there is nothing really stopping you or deterring you from having taking your home region as your primary objective out of the gate.
Think of how you would deal with another kingdom in your region... would you split the region diplomatically, or recruit troops off turn 1 and try and push em' outta there?
I understand this game format wouldn't be very balanced, not in the fact that the kingdoms aren't balanced, but if everyone chose to pick on you then there isn't much you can do to fight back and you'd be out pretty quick. Also in this game format, I imagine that having the secretive trait would be almost required to be successful.
Despite this, thinking about how chaotic this game would be and the different strategies that would emerge from a game mode like this really tickled my fancy this evening.
This is more theoretical, but I thought I'd share my thoughts with ya'll nonetheless!
