To Duel or not to Duel?
#1
I am ready to start a couple of Duels just as soon as they are opened up. I would even be willing to prepay for some of the games, say 10, if that would help convince you to allow all 22 kingdoms to play against one another. Rick doesn't seem to see this as a genuine revenue stream, but I see it as long term potential. Once you get a few of the 'fixes' in place, it's pretty much free money after that, tight?

Please do not take any of my comments as a personal insult or as a criticism of the game 'Alamaze', which I very much enjoy. Rather, I hope that my personal insight and unique perspective may, in some way, help make 'Alamaze' more fun, a more successful financial venture, or simply more sustainable as a long-term project. Anyone who reads this post should feel completely free to ignore, disregard, scorn, implement, improve, dispute, or otherwise comment upon its content.

That is interesting I actually offered to prepay for games as well in an email to support. No response but I am kinda used to that now. These posts should be moved to the dual testing thread.

Probably, but that one got a little heated so I moved it over here. I probably should have just created a new, controversy-free, thread...

Could be a good poll type question how many dual games could you see yourself playing. I do not know how to do polls or if I even can. Rick stated 100-500 I am curious how close the community actually is to this number. Not prepaid but an estimate how many they would play

0 none do not like the format
1-5 try it out
5-10 looks fun
10-22+ I want to try every kingdom
22+ What can I say I'm an addict

I would say 1-5 initially, but that could absolutely grow to 10-22+ if I enjoy them and some minor enhancements are made.

If all kingdoms could play one another, I would definitely play each kingdom at leadt once assuming there were willing opponents. If it gets really popular, I could see myself eventually playing every possible matchup, although it might be difficult to convince the Underworld to play against my Red Dragon.

Make it 44 kingdoms, or 48 if seapower can be added, and I could be playing forever. Throw in a new map, or ten, and I could be playing a bunch of kingdoms at once forever.

The problem with polls is thatnot every player reads the forums regularly. Some of those who do won't comment because of the negativity. The real test will be when the game is offered up for real. Fix the season issue, and I don't see why that couldn't happen immediately. I paln to start two games on day one.

I do worry that one map will pale after a while, but I think it has a lot of life in it.

I could easily see myself playing 30+ of these. I would even be willing to take on your RD with the UN if it were possible. I actually already considered a tactic for that very matchup even though it is not currently allowed. 3rd cycle UN plays very different than a 2nd cycle would. They are not longer the agent master others are just as good or better (one kingdom starts knowing RoI) but they do other things. Having traits coming out there arse.

I don't think I'd play this format.

Not even if I challenged you to a 1:1 and let you choose the kingdoms?
