My Black Dragons and I are getting out fought and out played by the Red Dragons. Turn 4 and there is a Red Dragon army group at my capital and one of my villages has already been pillaged. I have control of my region just in time for Winter.
One big change that I would like to see is that we are limited in which kingdoms we can match to one another. Why have certain kingdoms be set for the East while the others are for the West? I say open it up and let the players decide which of the 22 kingdoms they want to use.
About having "loose" kingdoms not tied to a region is something that I've already brought up and people either hated it or didn't think the concept was even worthwhile to reply. So the moment has already passed for that possible code change but you can read about it here: http://kingdomsofarcania.net/forum/showt...8#pid38338

I don't think I grasped what you were asking. To me, it seemed that you were asking about pc placement and not kingdom match-ups. I wish I would have read it closer. It feels like you settled on unmentioned 'option C', the worst of the choices. We are limited by the kingdom matchups and STILL start with 1 town and 1 village in each region. It just decides which region the capital starts in and initial regional reaction.
My opinion, but I think you'll end up revisiting this and making the change down the road when this becomes a very popular variant and players want more choices in kingdom matchups.
A better option would be to have 22 kingdoms in the west (Western Black Dragons, Western High Elves) and 22 kingdoms in the east (Eastern Black Dragons, etc...). Want to know who the best Druid player is? Why not challenge the competition and find out? Think of the cool tournaments that you could create. Hell, you could have a whole bracket of just Sacred Order players fighting down to the real Sacred Order champion! That would create a very nice revenue stream for the company. I bet we could create a special Valhalla just for duels..

Actually Option 'A' for static kingdoms was done. Alamaze always had kingdom pc's in alternative regions for their non-primary stuff (non-capital pc's, lesser troops, ...etc.) so the Duel game variant followed suit. Someone mentioned on the forum about combining all of a kingdom's assets into a single region but that was well past the point of the code deadline and wasn't done.
About having a wider range of kingdom matchups, hey, I was all in favor of randomizing kingdoms, their placements, and having the full range of kingdom combinations possible but it didn't make the cut by the crowd. Also need to remember that this Duel game format was something that wasn't really official and was just an experiment by me for the upcoming Solo/Tutorial game (which I bet took Ry Vor by surprise ). So I don't know how many updates it'll receive in the future with other things being planned in the pipeline with one project in particular that I hope will be successful that hasn't been publicly mentioned yet...

So I missed a turn in both 1004 and 1006 before turn 4. Wondering if there was something else I could have done.
I was traveling and the hotel did not have Chrome (nor would its settings allow me to download Chrome). When I went to the 3rd Cycle order entry with different explorers, they were not supported. So, I entered my orders in the 2nd Cycle site, hoping to find a Chrome browser on some device and open and save those. That did not happen as no device at the hotel had Chrome.
I did not have a laptop with me for a 2-day trip. Anyway, without Chrome no luck? Or was there something else i could have or should have done?
Thanks

You may use any browser except Internet Explorer. So Chrome (recommended for the page's elements to be properly sized/formatted), Firefox, Opera, Safari, and others. I've tested the site with all of those and no issues occurred though there may be other browsers that work as well. The only issue with IE is that it handles internal session storage differently (a browser mechanic that I use instead of cookies so nothing is saved on your pc/device while using the site) which can cause issues with your orders. So to prevent possibly corrupting your actions for the turn, I've disabled IE for the website. I was going to go back and support IE for the site which involved some work but Microsoft then said that they won't support IE any more so I didn't bother with it.
If a hotel wasn't good then you could have tried a public library or internet café or such...

I get it and I'm sorry that I didn't grasp what you were asking for the first time. In tge meantime, there is loads of fun to be had. Either it will take off and you'll change it or it will fizzle and it won't matter. I appreciate what you've already done.

the influence piece has been there for a bit on the enemy. Rick mentioned wanting it to hurt a touch to have the benefits.

Any chance you can place this map someplace more prominent -- and sticky?
