Assault by the 1st Warlock small army on the Sacred Order city of Avalon, located in area NK of
Amberland:

Paid informants revealed that Avalon was growing into one of the best protected cities
in Alamaze. Inside its thick rising walls painted in the kingdoms colors and 50' high
towers it claimed a large inner keep. Late in the afternoon, Grand Marshal Drakmer
commanded his 1st Warlock small army to begin the attack upon the city. The thundering
stomping by the 1st Warlock Mammoths caused fear among the ranks of their enemy. The
Warlock fielded its pride: its 1st group. As the attackers advanced through the high
plains, the first missles sang out. Early in the battle, defending missilers were busily
launching thousands of whistling bolts into the attackers. The Warlock forces imposed
light casualties upon the city's protectors. Warlock conjurers dismounted just past where
the defensive missles were falling and began an animated incantation. Calling forth his
arcane power Mouse's presence power impacted the course of the engagement. Blinding light
shot forth from his position. Zor Mindshifter likewise let their presence be known in like
manner. Raveneye likewise let their presence be known in like fashion. The Warlock wizards
claimed appreciable casualties upon the protectors. Warlock Grand Marshal Drakmer
displayed the Axe of Farin for all to see, his troops thus encouraged multiplied their
efforts and the enemy's leaders quaked as the magical axe slew enemy forces. In the
initial minutes of battle, defending missilers were devastating in the casualties they
inflicted, causing great disruption in the attacker's formations. The Warlock ranks
inflicted significant losses upon the city's wall defenders. It readily became apparent
that the defending troops were of typical quality for the region. It was startling how
rapidly the outer defenses of proud Avalon were swept aside, and the inner wall near
collapsed as well, within three hours. The Warlock had already suffered heavy losses in
the effort, but their commander bravely led yet another charge. Within a few hours, the
city defenses were obliterated and an unconditional surrender was offered. The Warlock
banner now waves nobly in Avalon! Warlock casualties were put at 42.63%. In a setback, the
Warlock General Nimbus Thunder did not survive. In the proud tradition of the Warlock
kingdom, a brilliant leader has risen in this battle. He is Centurion Nimbus Thunder. All
the Warlock wizards survived the fray. An Warlock unit earned promotion to Veteran status.
An Northmen brigade of Regular experience battled bravely and have been elevated to
Veteran level. The troops are anxious for more victories: morale is up!

1st Warlock The Power-7 wizard Mouse cast the meteor strike spell.
The city of Avalon (Area NK) was completely engulfed in magical fires by
our powerful magic. It has been completely destroyed!

Um which is it? cause if I destroyed the city with my wizards, okay fine but then I shouldn't have had the battle right? If I had the battle, fantastic. Where is the city. Now I did 22k with wizards before battle. And then fought I believe. The city was at 26k or so last turn. Nevermind I comprehend where I went wrong. Oh well no Avalon for anyone now!!!

Meteor Storm (Spell #155) occurs after an attack on a PC (#150). Good to see some of the new PC battle text in place.

Ok figured it out Atuan
Somehow you group beat the city with almost equal numbers and very strong presense spells.

After you took the city you did approx 10% damage.
Then the big whammy. It lost the SA 40% PC defense bonus for being in the plains and the SA owning it.
It was likely somewhere around 17k defense when your mages started working on it.
Then your wizards finished it off.

I like Rubble and Ruin and would hate for a game to go by where the Red Wizard didn't destroy at least one city.

SA City Governor: Sir, you have successfully defeated us in battle; a most worthy military coup. We surrender the city to your rule.

WA Regional Commander: Thank you kind sir. Our rule will be fair and just. Your people treated with fairness and consideration. Let it be the start of a new beginning between our peoples.

<A hushed silence falls over the thousands that have turned out for the historic moment as they all squint their eyes upwards and something appears way up in the sky hurtling at breakneck speed towards the city proper>

SA City Governor: Good sir, what is that? Some kind of victory flyover?

<A lot of discussion takes place off to the side out of earshot from everyone else between the WA Regional Commander and a recently arriving emissary from the WA Wizards Guild, ending with the WA Regional Commander visibly upset stating.......>

WA Regional Commander: What do you mean they didn't get the memo?!!!! Followed by, "They did WHAT?!"

<A long pause, as the WA Regional Commander walks back to the where the SA City Governor has been patiently waiting, but a bit more concerned as the items in the sky have grown larger and closer.>

WA Regional Commander: Citizens of Avalon.... I'm afraid I have some bad news for all of us...................

1 Centaurs Veteran
2 Apes Regular
4 Zombies Regular

Combat Factors
Good Leaders Inexperienced Leaders

Tactical Selection
Standard Battle Plan Determined Attack

The 1st Druid morale was boosted due to the valor of the Minotaur brigades. When the sun
had risen to its highest point, with a look skyward from its elk riding leader, the 1st
Druid army group leapt ahead to engage the advancing lines of the 3rd Amazons army group
under Captain Circi Halfmoon. The Druid fielded its pride: its 1st group. As the attackers
crossed the open battlefield, the first missles sang out.

- Archers -

The Druid collected missile troops and the archers advanced adorned in animal skins of the
Amazons force initiated their attack. The Druid ranks caused light losses upon the Amazons
forces and, in return, the Amazons caused light casualties to their enemy. Missilers from
both sides joined the fray and fired their arrows. The Druid ranks inflicted significant
casualties upon the Amazons ranks as the Amazons dealt out light losses against the enemy.

- Magic -

Druid mages dismounted scarcely beyond the range of defending bowmen and began an
elaborate spell. Incanting forcibly The Talisman's presence wizard force altered the
course of the engagement. Earth tremors shot forth from the wizard. Power-4 wizard The
Talisman incanted in a low forceful tone. A low rumbling began, which quickly escalated
into a full scale earthquake, immediately below the main ranks of the hapless enemy! Many
perished. Power-2 wizard Cassandra glowered intently and issued indecipherable utterances.
While invisible, his sorcery sent lethal sonic blasts directly into enemy formations with
impressive effect. Adept Blue Tongue while seemingly detached from all else, seemed to
draw within himself and began to incant which caused his image to disappear from the
battlefield! Amazons wizards dismounted just beyond the range of defending bowmen and
began an animated incantation. With a mere glare from his fiery eyes Hag of Agmar's
presence power changed the course of the engagement. Arcs of searing fire shot forth from
the wizard. Power-3 wizard Hag of Agmar incanted in a low forceful tone. While invisible,
his sorcery sent lethal sonic blasts directly into enemy formations with impressive
effect. Mysteria also had their presence be seen in like manner. Power-3 wizard Mysteria
began sorcerous incantations in an unknown tongue. While invisible, his sorcery sent
lethal sonic blasts directly into enemy formations with impressive effect. Power-2 wizard
Sage of Illyria glowered intently and issued indecipherable utterances. A faintly visible
blue shimmering began to surround the troops and noticeably lessened the effectiveness of
the arrows of the defenders. The Druid ranks claimed noticable damage upon the Amazons
lines while the Amazons imposed minor losses to their foes.

- Artifact -

The presence of the Green Dragon mates, Tornad and Sylva, invigorated the Druid forces as
they slew enemy forces with their acid dragon breath.

- Cavalry -

The riders from both sides charged ahead and clashed upon the battlefield. The Druid ranks
imposed light losses upon the Amazons lines as the Amazons claimed light casualties
against the enemy.

- Infantry -

Steel gleamed brightly, as the masses of foot soldiers sprang to the ready, and then
charged forth with a roar, engaging in battle which took many proud lives. The Druid
scantily clad footmen confronted the Amazons mainly spear maidens to determine the outcome
of the battle. The Druid ranks dealt out heavy casualties upon the Amazons lines in
return, the Amazons caused minor casualties to their enemy.

- Conclusion -

Amazons casualties had now exceeded acceptable levels in the judgement of Captain Circi
Halfmoon so the order for retreat was sounded. The Amazons showed good composure in their
withdrawal, minimizing losses. Druid casualties were put at 12.86%. All Druid leaders
survived the battle. Sirian Bluewood has shown great valor and has earned a promotion to
Grand Marshal. Helix Starborne again led courageously and has earned a promotion to Major
General. In the martial tradition of the Druid kingdom, a courageous leader has risen in
this engagement. He is Centurion Velia Eagle Eye. All the Druid wizards survived the fray.
Due to experience, victory and valor, a Veteran Druid brigade has been recognized as

Amazons casualties were put at 85.43%. All Amazons leaders survived the battle. In a
setback, the Amazons Power-2 Sage of Illyria was found dead in the vanguard with many
wounds. Losses suffered in the effort and depression of defeat have greatly diminished
morale.

... well that was a great outcome ... Confused ! Sheesh! I'm glad it's a Beta game!
I think if it had been my 1AM with my good leaders, it would have been closer.
Congrats to the Druid menagerie!
