OOC: The tension you've highlighted about whether to reveal things or not is pretty much exactly what we all grapple with, at various points in time. So please don't think it's just you! Smile As for the Dagger, I'm not GN, but I imagine it's because they share a region and are friendly with one another.

I thought I offered it to you first. Perhaps I have confused my games. I would be willing to sell to you as well at the same rate 25000 gold and food, and a game long NAP, I would also ask a favor to help chase a certain black lizard out of the region of Runnimede.

OOC: You did make that offer, for 50K gold and 50K food and a game-long NAP. DE declined.

Deadly Demonic Denizens of Darkness,

You think some bastard out there might decide to pick on little ol' me?  I suppose they might at that - I am a tasty little dish.  Yes - let us form a defensive pact against any who would encroach on Amberland or Arcania.

Agreed. Naturally that would include a NAP.

We are ready to move.  We have an army of witchlords and ex-witchlords to port to the city.  Our emissaries should be in range though we do not know the location of PCs.   I could divine them this turn to keep them from being common knowledge.   I mentioned three or four towns because I would like the minimum for substantial control which would normally be city and three towns.  But am happy to take two towns and a village to see if that is enough.  Random census level do make things difficult these days.

EL - DE

It seems the DE is already in place in Torvale, though not controlling. I have some holdings there myself.
If you decide to go, there are towns (from your starting town in Oakendell) that are 5 south and 3 west and one at 11 south and 2 west, plus the city.
If I decide to go, I will cover the rest of the towns and will divine villages.

Lord Loriendalis,

Again, we stand with you. I have nothing personally against the Demon Princes, but if they are allowed to control a second region, with their natural enemy already consigned to the dustbin of history, they will be dangerously close to ruling Alamaze. And I would far prefer a member of the Northern Alliance to be in that position.

We wish you good fortune and good hunting. And in candor, I have found open declarations such as these to be honorable and sporting. At least no one can claim to be confused about intentions.

Best,
Grundun

Heh, the Dwarf up in his mountain stronghold is always quick to share an opinion, but not so much to do anything himself. Tsk tsk HH, those that act naturally get the advantage, it's not our fault that you have been sulking in your mountain citadel with plenty of opinions for the RD and your neighbors but without much to show for it but your own region.

All that being said, I have no worry about lack of honor from yourself, Michael or JF. I've played with you all and found you all worthy opponents. However, I wouldn't consider a 3-1 Torvale fight (along with paying the UN via Dwarven coffers) very sporting.

I back down from nothing. I'll fight for what I have gained with blood and fire but it is not me that has intentions on either Oakendell or the Mists.

Torvale was the home of my hated enemy and I naturally took the fight to him. It's not common knowledge but as I recently said I burned the walls of his capital to ash several turns ago and that hastened his drop. What else would you have me do but take everything else in my path.

DE-GN

I believe we had a deal on the blade no?

DE-BL/RA

If the Elf and Witchlord attack or move on my holdings this next turn, I will very likely consider joining your alliance because I consider the Dwarf opposed to you. In that case I would hope that the Warlock would also join with us to defend what is rightfully ours.

DE-WA

I hope you're ready to have our newly formed defensive pact invoked. It's very possible that I'll need your aid against the Elf and Witchlord if they move against me. I will be happy to bankroll your wizard development to the tune of 100K gold immediately upon the end of summer if it is necessary.

OOC: Not sure if you've noticed, but expressing opinions is what we do, here. And if you've been following along, you'll see that EL/WI are looking into Torvale, and I'm dealing with my own matters. No one is saying you've acted inappropriately for going after your natural enemy's region, just that you're growing dangerously powerful for an SVC game, and so people may decide to respond accordingly.

I see EL/WI against DE/WA, DW/RD/GN (with DW and GN not exactly helping each other) against RA/BL, and UN as a free agent. And while you can certainly try to stir the pot and turn this into a giant two-sided battle, it may not be in everyone's interests to do that.
