Lord Loriendalis,
I would like to join with you and work together in Torvale. Perhaps I could take the economic base of the city and three or four towns and you take control. If you like we could declare an alliance but it is not a nessisarry step for me as I do not need these papers to trust the noble Elves.
I am also good with the defense pact until the end of next summer.
Dark Lord

Lord:
Your proposal makes sense in general, though your requested numbers seem high for me to still take control. I am good with you taking the city and a couple of towns and villages.
How prepared are you to move?

Our host has been gathering power and mass long since Arcania succumbed to our wiles. Now I see the forces of the world declaring allegiance and intent. There seem to be a few distinct camps forming:
Lords of the North: Elves, Witchlord and Dwarves - bound to defend each other and all three no doubt marshaling forces both arcane, covert and military. Free to move without worries of borders except south, this is a formidable force. Control the High Council of Alamaze completely.
Mountain Alliance: Red Dragon and Dwarf. The Red as he is want to do, flying and fighting and building strength. Fortunate that the Darkelf Imperium dropped early.
Eastern Pact: Rangers and Black Dragons - bound by borders and steel, pledged to defend against the Red but also attacking the Gnome
Undeclared: Underworld, Gnome, Demon Princes, Warlock. We have many NAPs in effect, but much of mine are set to expire.
Defeated: Ancient Liars. I roast the bones of their consuls on my fires to keep my fires burning hot.
Dropped: Giant, Darkelf, Ancient Liars
Clearly the alliances are being drawn. But where will the undeclared throw in their lot? If anyone has a proposal for us, the endless host is all ears.
DE- WA: It seems to me that we are currently without defense pacts. I might propose a center board defense pact between us to not allow us to be attacked piecemeal- and give would be attackers much more to think about.
OOC: Nice write-up

Lady Steelhawk:
Our peoples do indeed share a rich heritage of honor and courage. However, your recent "interference" with the Red Dragons settling peaceably into our former brothers' home seemed rash to me. It is never wise to anger the mighty flying citadels. I agree it seemed overly generous of the Dwarves to grant those Dragons the ancestral Hammerhold, but politics are important in this age of war that is upon us. Peace with the Reds was probably worth a temporary ceding of the city.
As the world moves closer to war, my peoples are sadly abandoning their pleasant past-times and gearing up for involvement. It is our hope that our great kingdoms will land on the same side of any war.
Lord Loriendalis, King of the High Elves
Greetings Lord Loriendalis, King of the High Elves,
It does my heart good to know that Elves still roam the sun-lit forests of Oakendell given the annihilation of your darker-skinned kin. I understand why many perceive my actions to be rash, bold, impudent, or antagonistic; I'm a not unfamiliar with such descriptors, but then, I am who I am. There was never going to be peace with the Red Dragons, they either bully weaker kingdoms as they did with the Dwarves and Gnomes, or simply buy time with stronger or distant ones, but mark my words, they mean to enslave the world in fire. In fairness to my action, I would point out that I never claimed the Eastern Steppes, it was the Dwarf who twisted my words, and the Red Dragon King who was so easily manipulated into war by believing him. Synisvania was the only region that I actually laid claim too along with a couple border towns in the water to serve as a buffer, after all, why would a dragon want water PCs anyway. So prodded by the Dwarf, the Scarlet Wyrm used it as an excuse for an invasion. But sadly, regardless of who believes which version anymore, what is done is done.
If I thought the Red Dragon could be swayed to peace, each with our own regions and me gaining a village and town in Sea for compensation for all the waste he brought to my lands under false pretenses, I would, but given his level of insult, I believe he is now firmly into a bloodlust.... and I would add that he will not stop with me, something that should concern all of Alamaze. One day kingdoms will wish they would have stood with the Rangers when they still could have. If, however, the experienced diplomatic corps of the Elves think they could broker a peace, we would entertain it, but nothing that rewards the RD for his actions.
I would certainly like to broker a NAP or an alliance with the Elves as both our races have long understood the value of honor, duty, integrity, and sacrifice for the common good. At the very least, I would like to buy/trade any additional foodstuffs the Elves would have available, as winter is upon my people and the Scarlet Wyrm has certainly made food scarce.
May the blessings of nature be upon your people,
Lady SteelHawk, Snow Queen of the Synisvanian Rangers

Great Lord Loriendalis,
My friend, it is of course your prerogative, as a free Kingdom, to trade with whomever you want.
With that said, we would consider it a personal favor if you declined to trade with the Rangers, or at the very least, declined to do so at favorable rates.
Best,
Grundun

We are ready to move. We have an army of witchlords and ex-witchlords to port to the city. Our emissaries should be in range though we do not know the location of PCs. I could divine them this turn to keep them from being common knowledge. I mentioned three or four towns because I would like the minimum for substantial control which would normally be city and three towns. But am happy to take two towns and a village to see if that is enough. Random census level do make things difficult these days.

That works. When I get back to my council chambers and the maps therein, I will provide you with 3 town locations and a village location with coordinates from a point we both know. I cannot remember if I know villages yet. I can also check the math and see what the numbers in the region look like.

To the Lord of Endless Hosts and Red Warlock Queen,
While I already have NAPs with both of you, I would certainly be willing to extend those NAPs through Turn 20. I would also be willing to ally with both or either of you, but of course, you know that brings with it the inherent risk of the Red Dragon's wrath; but I thought I would offer it nonetheless should you be so inclined to not back away from the clash of steel. The Desert King seems preoccupied with devoting the bulk of his military to the mountains of Cradia rather than supporting his ally's homeland defense leaving me to confront the dragon hordes alone. But should you be of strong stock; fresh troops, magic, and/or agents into the fray would be most appreciated and a game-long alliance accompanying it. Again, ponder this carefully but know that it is just a matter of time before the Red Dragon comes for your adjacent lands...... joining me now brings a strong ally with a ready army and the fight not in your lands..... later and you may face the Scarlet Wyrm holding BOTH the Eastern Steppes AND Synisvania plus Hammerhold and a Dwarven ally in your face and only Ranger remnants scattered among ruins. Please also note that my word has been honored when I promised that your Synisvanian holdings would remain untouched.
I would certainly be interested in trading/purchasing for food at the very least.

I am willing to trade you the dagger for 25000 gold and 25000 food. I would also like to know if I have earned any credit for raising the gold production at your village some turns ago. Now to get you the short name of the artifact and it remain a secret let me know the name of one of my pop centers that you have reconned and on what turn. With that info I should be able to send you the short name of the artifact.

Newsflash - much of Torvale is either already under my flag or I've already moved on it. I don't wish to have you both showing up at my centers just assuming they are neutral. This format is bizarre for this kind of thing as I've gone back and forth on even letting you know but I figure being upfront about it is probably best. If you had already moved you would probably go ahead and attack me.
I'm open to sharing what is left but apparently you guys haven't done much recon as of late. I moved on the Ancient One several turns ago- wiped him out and then continued to grab neutrals.
Knowing that you both are looking for a place to go, you won't find it just sitting open for you.

Curious why you're willing to sell this to the Underworld for so much less than to me? I would be glad to pay you 25K gold and 25K food for this item. You'll also gain favor with me. If you sell it without offering me the same opportunity that favor will be replaced with disappointment.
