OOC: I think all you have to do is resolve to launch a major attack on your own, and then see if your ally or allies will support you after the fact, if you even need it. I definitely believe that the format tends toward inertia, but then that could reward someone who takes the initiative.

My friends,
The only possible enemies that we could all attack in concert without breaking agreements (or close relationships) would be:
AN, EL, UN and WI.
I'm not suggesting any particular course ... just trying to provide some clarity.
Thoughts?

OOC: I think the inertia is more the result of the format combined with a player community unaccustomed to the format, than the format itself. I think once folks are used to it you'll see a whole different style and strategy from players than what we saw from the outset of this one and the soundness of an aggressive strategy will prevail just as it does with most games.

OOC -
Yes, in retrospect, I would have played this differently. Also, it was a little bit of a disadvantage to arrive to the party after several relationships had already been made.
It's still fun, though.

OOC - I'm having a total blast with this game - I love the format! I'm not a big fan of lots of NAPs in ordinary situations, anyway, so I didn't sign too many and I think most of them have expired by now. I tend to think that the best way is not to announce your attack ahead of time - just do it and then look around for allies. I think this is actually a bit more 'fair' than when two or more kingdoms land on another one with both feet at the same time. This way the kingdom under attack at least can prepare for the second attack and try to line up allies of their own. This is what I had expected the WI to do and I'm still kind of nonplussed that it didn't happen.

OOC - the podium is almost never my goal. Certainly it's not in this game. But I admire his choice to stick with how he's chosen to role-play the WI.

OOC: If the time I spend staring at the map and scrutinizing my options, and waiting anxiously for the clock to strike noon is in any indication, I'm having a pretty good time with this game.
I have too many thoughts about the current game format, the current strategic situation, LT's silence, DuPont's boldness, etc. to share at such a late hour I'm afraid.
