Although you have decided not to accept my offer, I hope you will at least appreciate the underlying goodwill toward you that we expressed.
In that spirit, I understand you've been reading the historical archives. Accordingly, as you know, there have been past precedents where a regular flow of gold, irrespective of season, has been considered acceptable compensation to a Kingdom for a population center, in certain cases.
Would you be willing to accept a trade to you for the entire gold production of your town in the Talking Mountains, plus 1/3 of the food paid in gold, for your one food? We could also make the trade a slightly higher amount of gold to represent one or even two villages under your "protection" plan.
