Test Game (pre-beta)

Checking the food and gold amounts is not the same as what I have now. I am going to send you the Excel I used for a recent game.

The new parser worked. I hadn't realized that the version I downloaded a couple weeks ago was out of date.

You can click on the menu tabs (to switch from Covert to Magic or other) and it remembers your tentative orders. You don't have to press the Save Orders button every time before moving to another menu tab. Press Save Orders when you're satisfied with your tentative orders to save them to the server.

I fixed the construct building order and added TAC selections so the next time you login, you should press the browser refresh button (on each menu tab which is a different page) to get the latest version. This may not be necessary if your browser doesn't cache the files but you should hit the refresh button anyway to get the update for building/TAC selections.

That's the part that I miss the most about the old order checker, during development, you only needed to refresh the browser once since it was a single webpage. But this hassle of refreshing each menu tab is only necessary during the test period. Once the new website becomes finalized, you won't have to refresh them anymore.

How do I know how many orders I have left? There really does need to be an easy way to see that at a glance.

Also, many of my orders are not saving. They look like they are, but a few minutes after saving I check and they are gone. I have saved my customization several times. The same for my political orders. I have enamored and moved my nobles several times as well. It works for a quick test, but after a bit they vanish.

Update: NONE of the orders are stored after both verifying them and saving. It looks like there is some sort of timer that resets them.

I will try starting over later today. Perhaps UM's changes fixed it.

There's no timer. Send me your browser, version, and steps that you're taking for them to clear. Until we investigate the issue, press the Save Orders button on each page before moving to the next but they're not disappearing on my pc. For quick reference of how many orders are remaining, check the top line of the message box area. It'll display a message if you still have any orders that are available.

It tells you if you have any available, but not how many. This is something that I think you will want to address before it goes live. I have been using Chrome since IE11 doesn't work. I'm not doing anything to make the orders go away. I save them, it looks like they take, and a little while later they vanish. I just logged back in and they are all gone. I will take some screenshots.

Feedback:

Turn 1

Order checker:

- Kingdom Selection
I forgot to change the kingdom and loaded T1 of my oldest 2nd Cycle game.  I went straight to the "Other" tab to enter order #11.  I did not notice there was a problem until I hit Verify (Not sure what would have happened if I had clicked 'Save' first).  The message box should tell you which game/kingdom/turn that you loaded (in addition to the current generic message)

- Orders are getting erased
After entering my Order #11 customization and saving them, I moved to the Political tab and entered orders for my emissaries.  After issuing a #483 for my Fool, the Order Checker erased my #11 order.  When I re-enter order #11, the order checker erased all of my Political orders.

It happened again, this time while entering my movement orders.

And again, entered my wizard orders, then switched over and entered my political orders and it erased my wizard commands.

Entered Agent orders and it erased my Political commands.

Entered Political commands again, then tried to enter my Wizards and that erased all of the orders again.

* Note: This problem is preventing me from doing my turn.
* Chrome - Version 46.0.2490.86 m

- Count of Orders Executed (or remaining count)
It is hard to track the count of orders.  The 'verify' text only tells you that you have not reached your max, but it does not tell you how many you have executed or how many are left.

* For example: I typically enter a trade food for gold order as my last order so I know how much food I have left. Now, I have to enter orders until the verify text tells me that I have used all of my orders, then I have to cancel one of those orders, verify again to get my food balance, then enter the trade order.

- Group Movement
I have to reference my movement points per terrain in order to enter movement in the order checker (my Excel file does this for me).  The system should recognize the terrain and automatically tally the points spent for
movement.  It would be nice if the order checker warned of movement problems (as the areas are selected), but I can get that info after I click verify, so not critical.

- Mouse is mandatory for specific orders
Agent Search for PC - You have to use the mouse (select from the drop-down) to enter the 4th area. If you use the keyboard, the last drop-down does not accept the 2nd keystroke and defaults to "A".

Example: mouse click drop-down menu, scroll down, select 976, <tab>, <tab>, P, F, <tab>, P, G, <tab>, P, H, <tab>, P, *** before you key the letter "I", the system uses "PA" and saves the order.

* Note: This happens on any order.  The last drop-down to select an area does not allow you to enter both coordinates.
i.e. Relocate emissary - use mouse to drop-down and select 350, <tab>, <tab>, "Q", *** before you can enter the 2nd coordinate "C", the system saves it as "QA" (instead of the "QC" that I intended).

Cannot tab through the fields on the Covert tab.

Bananas Map:

- Emissary Movement
3rd Cycle emissary movement is not 10.  The map says that I can relocate my Ambassador to my capital, but I get an error from the order checker.
ERROR MESSAGES:
ORDER #350: CANNOT MOVE AMBASSADRESS STRATO NIKE GREATER THAN 9 AREAS

- Personal Notes
It would be nice to have a freeform notes section where we can save information such as artifact short names, skeleton codes, movement per terrain, special orders, etc.
For example: I have an artifact short name and I will have to remember to reference T0 when I get a Priestess.

So far, I am pleased with the Bananas Map.  It reduces map updates from 20-30 minutes down to a few minutes (including manual annotations).  More feedback to come as turns are processed.

I would very much like the drop down for my wizard spells to be limited to the spells that wizard can actually cast.

I would love to have a note section as well for the same reasons that Frost Lord mentioned.

For that matter, I agree with Frost Lord on every point.

This shows wonderful potential, but even if I were able to actually save my orders this is not currently an acceptable alternative to my comprehensive Excel file.

I see that you fixed it so it shows how many orders you have used and how many you have left. Thanks!

I updated the server with a new version that preserves orders better. The issue was that each page only wanted to know about its own specific orders (like Political menu tab only wanted to display emissary orders) and that logic was erasing the orders from other pages. This version should fix that but you'll have to refresh each page again. This quick update also has the count of orders used in the first line if you're under the max allowed for the turn.
