I'm baffled why anyone who would want to play this game absent the diplomacy, that's the richest part of the game, at least for me.

I have thoughts on forming alliances too, but thought I'd move that to another thread, no point cluttering up this game thread with meta-game chatter.

Shadow Master,

We've contemplated your proposal, thank you for making it.

The net benefit to the Dwarves in your proposal is a few recons, the value of which is considerably diminished by the porous nature of our spy networks these days, and something I don't really need given my own capabilities. This questionable benefit would come at the expense of the gold, resources and orders of having to retake PCs at a later time, the increased risk of losing control of a region should I be invaded due to the lower census, and a penalty in status related to the ally declaration. That in itself isn't acceptable. The net benefit to the Underworld would be the ability to achieve your objectives and thereby obtain some exceptional rewards - as much as 60k gold, a wizard, influence, kingdom brigades, or some combination thereof.

I'm not greedy, and I'm not opposed in principle to helping you achieve your objectives, however I must decline that last offer. I'll put some thought into something that might please us both, but need to put some thought into it. For now I must put down my quill and get some much needed rest after a lengthy day of travel.

Shadow Master,

We understand our distant Dwarven cousins have turned down your offer. As it so happens, I had the thought that perhaps your two best customers, the Ancient Ones and the Gnomish Alchemical Monarchy, could be of assistance. We would obviously need to broach the subject with them, but I own a town in Torvale that would be willing to receive a visiting Underworld emissary and even hoist your Kingdom's colors for a month or two during his or her stay, and perhaps with another town from the Ancient Ones, you could meet your strategic objectives.

It is just a thought, but for three Kingdoms who are already friendly and working with one another, I thought it could perhaps be achieved.

Yes we have also thought of doing something to this extent.   Of course we must first get our own objective which does require we keep our holdings at least on the 10th month but may be willing to allow the UN to own a PC for a brief time.  We could even talk to the people on your behalf of course if required.

As a side note Bottlenose you do know keeping your town in Torvale is directly coming from my share of the region as it would be.   We would wonder if you might consider allowing us to claim this town at some point with no hostile feelings.   Perhaps after your next summer ends.   I see us continuing our defensive alliance much further in the future with no hostilities between our peoples except perhaps small grumbles over who found what artifact first.

DA -- ALL

As demonstrated on this forum, my Alamaze skill set does not fit well with this game and current real world events prevent me from full participation. In light of this I will be dropping this game. My last set of orders will be 11/21. If anyone would like to take over the position I will gladly hand over all early game turns.

Despite what my Alamaze neighbors might think the position is in great shape. With due respect to the UN who unquestionably has the best starting agents, the DA has the second best agents and they have been trained. Magic has been developed and DA emmies have their inborn abilities,

If there is no interest in taking over the position then all kingdoms have 3 turns to position themselves for invasion.

This is a war game and the misunderstandings are part of diplomacy. I would urge you not to drop and gain the reputation as having a glass jaw. Seriously, nobody has even attacked you yet. Do you really think three kingdoms were going to pile on and not bring others in?

Please do not take any of my comments as a personal insult or as a criticism of the game 'Alamaze', which I very much enjoy. Rather, I hope that my personal insight and unique perspective may, in some way, help make 'Alamaze' more fun, a more successful financial venture, or simply more sustainable as a long-term project. Anyone who reads this post should feel completely free to ignore, disregard, scorn, implement, improve, dispute, or otherwise comment upon its content.

Lord Diamond,  I seriously think I dont have time for this game and rather then waste everyone's time I would prefer giving the position to someone who has the time and will enjoy the experiment.

I have been in many games, in most I do well but in others I get my butt kicked.   The results dont matter as long as I enjoy the game and can give it my attention.  At this time I cant focus here.

Great King of the Dwarves,

Thank-you for considering my proposal.  It was intended more as an example of how a deal might be structured rather than a final offer, so I look forward to hearing your thoughts on alternative options.

Grand Councilor of the Gnomes and Archon of the Ancient Ones,

Thank you for your consideration in this matter.  While I have not given up on a possible arrangement with the Dwarves, I am definitely interested in pursuing this option as well.  I would certainly expect both of you to attain your strategic goals prior to aiding mine, and I would return all Torvale territory after attaining my own goals.  We should also discuss what additional services I can provide as compensation for your aid.

Greetings Elf king.

I see that you have moved an emissary into my town in Oakendale.  May I ask your intentions?  If you need to take this town for your own can you offer any compensation?  With our move south this northern town is valuable to us for its off-season production and also because of its inherent defensive abilities which I am sure you too appreciate.  Let me know your thoughts.
