The meeting of the Provosts of the Colleges of Red Magic was interrupted by the sudden intrusion of aide Lightning Finger. “Sorry to disturb you my liege, but scouts are reporting that a band of Trolls are wandering around in Amberland. It’s a small group and they seem to be just looking around. Our slightly paranoid generals think they may be scouting for towns and villages or possibly looking for artifacts hidden in dungeons and crypts across our region. As evidence that they are up to no good, we have multiple reports that they are whistling nervously while going about their tasks. Very odd indeed. Our generals would like to send the Trolls of Torvale a message that they really aren’t welcome in our region. Or at least stop whistling. It’s driving everyone crazy. What would you like to do?”
The Red Mage ponders the news. “I think we need to tread lightly here. We have not heard from the Trolls and their new chief No Fart. Nor have we sent a messenger to them – an oversight on our part it would seem. Of course, that is somewhat understandable as usually they either try to eat our messengers or hold them captive for days making them provide entertainment with minor pyrotechnics while they drink and generally amuse themselves by tearing apart and eating small forest creatures. Oh and don’t forget the farting. Lots and lots of farting. This Chief No Fart must be a quite an unusual Troll. Let’s send them a message that we desire peace between our peoples. But also let it be known that Amberland belongs to the Warlock and that their patrols are not welcome here. Let it also be known that removal of any artifacts from Amberland without our permission will be considered an act of aggression. But try to say it nicely, in small, simple words. And have the messenger practice farting while making pyrotechnics. Or, even better, making pyrotechnics from troll farts. I bet they would think that hilarious.”

Hail Arcane Master!
Congratulations on taking Amberland! Well done! I'm hoping that in light of your triumph, you no longer need your town in Synisvania. Is there some amount of gold that I can offer to mitigate your loss of this town?
Your truly,
Lord Lothaedus Swordhand

Sorry there was an unintended sea skirmish between our two kingdoms this months. I would be amenable to declaring one another allies when we have some spare orders so that this type of thing does not happen again.
Can you tell me where your Village in Arcania is? You can give coordinates based on the current location of 4GI who's whereabouts you should know.

AN - GN.
My friend We are curious if you have already found the quest artifact in your region. We plan to scout the location to find the key but would like to not waste our time if it is already in the works for you to recover the key?

My Wise and Esteemed Friends,
I cannot say for sure, but it seems very likely, as I expect to recover two Fine-class artifacts in the northern half of Runnimede this very month, and then I am immediately moving on to hopefully recover two more artifacts in the southern half of Runnimede next month.
Best,

In what part of a NAP does it state that I cannot defend my pop centers against a hostile attack. You took my pop center.
While we discuss betrayal. You entered into a NAP and one turn later decided to break that NAP, and while your ally the Gnome is correct the words of the NAP were not broken but the spirit was. What you and I know that the GN does not is that I had the location of your pop center and I was prepared to take it if our discussions did not go well. You where not prepared to take my pop center so you delayed a turn under the terms of the NAP until you could locate my pop center. Once you were prepared you used the NAP as a shield. This is deceit.
Even your most recent words were not true. You claimed to need MY pop center to acquire your region. That was clearly not true as you took the region without it.
Here is a new proposal. I will take back my pop center and leave yours alone. Then if you wish to resume your NAP we can do so. If not then......

Having all communications be public on this thread and in character was a brilliant idea! It has made for a very entertaining and educational read so far!

OOC: Before this heads south, why don't the two of you just agree the NAP is off and you're both welcome to fight each other? The carve-out was clear but there were few specific details about how it would work, obviously the two of you don't see eye-to-eye on them, and that's fine. No sense in assuming bad motives when you can just chalk it up to a misunderstanding.

This is a war game. Players are going to need reasons to fight eventually. Don't discourage them! It is finally getting interesting.

Please do not take any of my comments as a personal insult or as a criticism of the game 'Alamaze', which I very much enjoy. Rather, I hope that my personal insight and unique perspective may, in some way, help make 'Alamaze' more fun, a more successful financial venture, or simply more sustainable as a long-term project. Anyone who reads this post should feel completely free to ignore, disregard, scorn, implement, improve, dispute, or otherwise comment upon its content.

Congratulations to you as well for taking your region! Since you did so without disturbing my peaceful town of craftsman and farmers, I can' t see why we would need to make any other deal then "leave each other's stuff alone". Or NAP if you like. Otherwise, if you take the town then you have initiated hostilities. You probably have enough going on without generating bad will with the Warlock.
Peace.

No problem as I took the worst of that engagement. I had no idea you would still be moving around in the sea but should have asked first. My deepest apologies and happy that nothing unfortunate happened to your forces. I will probably be able to declare you ally this turn as all is quiet at the moment. I also have some extra food if needed, but I think the GN has sent you some icky Gnome food so that might not be an issue. But let me know if it is - or if you would simply prefer some "amber waves of grain". On a side note, please feel free to recruit any Ogres you see hanging out in the mountains of Amberland. They are depressing property values here in what would otherwise be great places to build "ski resorts".
While things are quiet I might send a noble of my court to scout out possible future living quarters in Evanon. We will, of course, wait for you to solidify your hold on Arcania before spreading any ideas about the possibility of joining our fair kingdom.
Sincerely,
Red
