183 Full Diplo w/ SVC
Says the one who uses allies and mercenaries instead of direct confrontation. The closest to victory is the WI, Elf can't get the elements needed in the time left, RD is not close. It took a coalition of many players to bring down the RA which was put together by the UN not the WI. To be honest it's a moot point, I can't see a SVC unless GN or WI is close. It's been a fun game, the game had many kingdoms exhibiting good play but alas this game also highlighted why many of the ELDERS don't like diplomacy. I would not even bet the RD ends in the top 3. Who ever does end up on The podium deserves it on a 40 turn game, no sour grapes from me.

Probably need to also mention that WI leads in status points because DA gifted him all his artifacts before he dropped. Which is kind of dubious to begin with....

True. Don't forget. I went and got a artifact for you in my region. And then let you come and get another artifact in my region. I could have had sea patrol on and wiped out your group or sat in ambus and wiped out your group if u tried to get Elan yourself.

Hmmm.  We had put a rule in place that artifacts could not be sold / traded for less than 10,000 gold.  I don't believe there is a way to gift artifacts.  Did an artifact get traded for less than 10,000 gold?

No, I bought everyone of them from DA. Glad to send anyone my turns of those trades after game is over

I traded them to my ally that was helping me the most when I left. I could have easily gifted them by moving my group onto one of his group or a town. But I did not. My guess the WI would have been much better off if I stayed rather than just sent my artifacts.

Countdown...2 turns....

Aeons ago the legends tell we rode onward
Led astray by the northern chaos gods
Calm before the storm we came from the north...
Horses roamed in the open landscapes

Scald sang to their kings
Only he who battle wins
Scald sang to the kings
Let the battle be fought to be won

Tremble with fear for the banner of our kings
War now calls, heed to the battle
Hear our swords clinging in the wind
Men cast from their saddles horses, roar and scream

Descendants of wrath and the kingdom of fear...
The might we possess burn like fire
The will remain in our northern hearts...
More scalps to be won, an eye for an eye

Aeons ago the legends tell we rode onward
Led astray by the northern chaos gods
One by one by the northern tribe you fall
One by one... die by the strongest of them all
Still there's only greatness sung to those whom fell
Who battled strong to win these wars...
One by one we took your lives

At the risk of throwing any shade I have to mention that my 'problem' with full diplomacy games is that all you really need to do to win is be the most prolific corresponder. My guess is that the winner of this game sent as much as 10 times as many emails out as any other player. I guess you can call that a strategic win but...

And yes you need to engender allies and build a coalition of timely support but that's really kind of easy if you are out communicating your opponents 10:1. That's all it really takes to have way more information and to influence the tides of the game. It is not necessarily the charm or content of the correspondence as it is just the sheer effort and volume (for which you can argue a certain credit of its own should be given).

Maybe others disagree with either my premise or that it's any kind of 'problem'. For me it makes the diplomacy games less desirable.

I don't really have much to say...I guess I'm sorry that I communicate and send emails a lot. Although I can say. There are plenty of players that don't like me because I email so much. Knowledge is power.

I just find it hard to believe your getting on my case about the reason why I'm where I'm at is because how much I email...

Not so much getting on your case as expressing an opinion about the nature of the diplomacy games.

You did send me some nasty emails when it looked like I was going to win this game on T35 so if there are sour grapes on my end it is not for the gang-bang you organized to prevent my win or for ending our heretofore game long non aggression and cooperation; it is from the emails accusing me of trying to 'steal the win', that I had no strategy in the game, did not deserve to win and certainly had not outplayed you...

There are also worse things you can say about a winner than he essentially 'out-worked' you Smile
