Turn Results Parser

Thanks!
The emissary tool was in 0.4.0, but I never published it. I wanted more feedback that the algorithm I used was valid.
And by the time I did, I had found a tool that would let me do the stand alone binary. It took me a while, as it didn't
play as nicely with Tk scripts and I had to fiddle with it. I finally had a breakthrough tonight and am very excited to
share it. I seriously hope it works for y'all.

OK, It looks like 1.0.0 does not really work as advertised. Despite being standalone, the parsing will not work if you do not have ruby already installed. Wasn't that was I was trying to avoid, requiring you to have Ruby installed? I'm going to change it so that it does not call a separate script to do the parsing. Hold tight.

There have been a lot of developments on this since you joined us, Bananas! Would you mind pointing me at the current best method of getting this installed and working?

Please do not take any of my comments as a personal insult or as a criticism of the game 'Alamaze', which I very much enjoy. Rather, I hope that my personal insight and unique perspective may, in some way, help make 'Alamaze' more fun, a more successful financial venture, or simply more sustainable as a long-term project. Anyone who reads this post should feel completely free to ignore, disregard, scorn, implement, improve, dispute, or otherwise comment upon its content.

Well, if I haven't screwed it up again, I think the standalone binary that I just released should be the easiest. Just download and run TurnParser-1.0.1.exe. The TurnParserInstructions.doc should tell you what to do with the tool once it is started. Note that it takes forever to start up this way. Sad

EASY WAY:
If you are feeling more adventerous, you can try installing Ruby on your windows box, downloading the parser zip file, extracting it, and running the script itself.

RUBY WAY:
I really hope I finally have something that you can run now.

1.01 worked well. I sent you a message with my 'wish list' that, if filled, would have your parser completely replace the PP map. It's almost there, fore sure, and is a good alternative to any players who are even just a bit less anal about their maps than I am. I will be using it as a supplement to my newest game regardless.

I really enjoy seeing where all my groups have been. I also like seeing the history of a particular PC. Another great feature is the ability to see which of my nobles and agents are in range of any pc on the map. Very nice!

I didn't mention it in my message, but I just realized that you may not be able to add a pc that you 'heard of' to the map without having a turn report to show the pc. Not a deal breaker, but it could be an issue.

Great job!

Thank you very much!

I have entered the items from your wish list as 'issues' on GitHub where I am controlling the code so that I do not forget them.
Anyone can make requests or report bugs there, on this forum, via PM, via email, or any other way you find to get the info to me.

Quick update. There is now a Fix Regions item on the Map menu which will update the region number for all population centers to match the official list of area-region values.

Easy Way  : TurnParser-1.1.0.exe
Ruby Way : TurnParser-1.1.0.zip

I so glad these are now working for you.

Should I update the very first post in this thread to have links to the latest versions?

I think that would be a good idea. Thanks for the update!
