They were probably feeling guilty about the poor Trolls...
No hard feelings, Underworld and Demon Princes. The Ancient Ones, though, are a different story!

I didn't really think that I'd gain a seat on the HC that turn or I would have both bid on a new issue and voted to support the Trolls.

Please do not take any of my comments as a personal insult or as a criticism of the game 'Alamaze', which I very much enjoy. Rather, I hope that my personal insight and unique perspective may, in some way, help make 'Alamaze' more fun, a more successful financial venture, or simply more sustainable as a long-term project. I barely had an open order to bid for the seat, this being a critical turn, but I felt certain that the Gnome would step in with a large bid. Now I am annoyed that I may have bid too much.
I could hardly sit back and watch the evil Ancient Ones further victimize the poor, misunderstood Trolls without stepping in could I?

So, there are such things as non-critical turns? :-)

There are. This was the turn that I gained control of the region.

I think you overbid by about 20K.
Not sure if you really had any competition at all this turn.

Oh, he did. I was as surprised as he was. Great turn for the Demon Princes.
That's twice The Great Gnomish Bastions of Alchemy have missed out by a couple k.
