I would prefer to keep it as is ... standing order. I do not want to burn two orders to change it.

Just because you trade me food doesn't mean I won't stab you in the eye and cut off your scrotum with my cutlass. It ain't no alliance just a mutual benefit - like sharing a women with the man beside you on a pleasure cruise. It happens all the time ... sometimes even two pleasure cruises in a row!
Let me know if you change your mind.

No Quarter
The sea-salt summer breeze blew in off the waves across the rocky coast of Nyvaria, here outside the strategically located border town that a forgotten storyteller had named Ashes of Troy. Here encamped the horde assembled by their Pirate master Black Jack Longschlong (probably not his real name). Ashes of Troy provided Nyvaria with a suitable port town and was presently the only embarkation point for the vast Pirate navy on The Endless Sea. Indeed, the Pirates had recently won a notable sea battle on those waters in a surprise attack against their foe, the ships of the Necromancer to the north. A formal declaration of war followed.
In the ensuing months, The Pirate Prince had assembled the makings of a promising army group. While yet another army of his was occupied elsewhere, this one stood at eleven brigades, including six brigades of freshly minted Knights of Styx – all as-of-yet untested. Their assigned duty to begin on the morrow was a moon full of training with sword, lance, and shield, when then completed would have them more worthy of the esteemed title of Knights of Styx than the rather expensive boys they really were now.
Joining them were a lone veteran brigade of Vikings, presently regaling the pirate brigades with tales of valor on the salty seas against sea monsters as they quenched their thirst with ale while the Pirate audience found no shortage of grog. Apart from the rest of the host on a nearby mound gathered a brigade of Hill Giants, keeping to themselves.
General Blackfin was in command, surprisingly. This was a large force in need of very experienced leadership given the soldiers own lack thereof. He assembled his war council which other than himself consisted of a crusty veteran stuck at Centurion rank due to his unreliability and foul odor, along with two young fledgling would-be-wizards, having just trained their ravens but too novice to be counted on anything in a fight. That was it.
But there was no air of concern about the camp. No enemies in the area, there would be no fighting for at least a month, time to get the training done and muster a more suitable command structure. For now, there is time to enjoy the respite on the shore. No peasants throughout the region had reported the presence of any enemy force anywhere. Blackfin was relaxed and scanned the beach for a suitable wench for the night’s companionship and there were beauties in this part of Nyvaria, mixed no doubt with some Diamond Coast bloodlines. An army group at his command, his arm around a lovely woman and a flagon of his private stock of grog in the other hand, he crossed the sandy beach to his tent, the sky turning evening into twilight. Life was good. (Emphasis on “was”.)
_____________
Ry Vor had been observing the Pirate force via his Palantir for weeks when he was not animating fresh brigades of Ghouls, seeing their constant recruiting of units the Pirate hoped to train into a formidable army. But this recruiting held them in place. The Pirate had usurped the Necromancer town on an island in the Azure Sea with a swarm of swarthy talkers, and then surprised the black navy in The Endless Sea with a sneak attack.
Commanders rarely feel their army is ready for battle. They hesitate, they make excuses to delay. While Commander Nightstalker was technically in-charge of this one, he knew the arch mage Ry Vor would call the game. The plan was set.
Weeks before, it was determined to attack at Ashes of Troy. If the Pirate Force remained, so much the better. If they left, they would leave behind the important port, and meanwhile the Necromancer army would have entered Nyvaria, setting a tone.
The Necromancer force was a nine-brigade army comprised of three Necromancer-black clad and grim-faced soldiers; one veteran brigade of The Damned (those eager to become Undead); 2 Orc brigades whose hijinks provided a touch of dark humor with the occasional fatality; joined by 2 brigades of Ghouls, known to have unsettling effects on adversaries, and the first experiment with Zombies by Ry Vor – a single brigade for the moment. All were regular experience except the one brigade of The Damned, making them more valuable in their current live state, to their disappointment.
In leadership joining Commander Nightstalker was Captain Darkstorm, he of a proud and ancient house and destined to become a powerful noble, and the lovely and very dangerous Captain Major Igania Darksoul, daughter to the Duke of Lionhead. To assist in the important matters of magic were the nearly as powerful wizard Ral Zan Kroy, with his shock of long gray mane and indigo eyes, and the developing mage - named by his loving mother - Spectre of Doom.
Ry Vor shared the plan of attack with his assembled staff. He would cause the army to be invisible as they entered Nyvaria and took positions on a crest overlooking Ashes of Troy and the sea beyond. This was done.
Arriving invisible, there below was the encamped Pirate Army Group, having not marched to campaign, apparently still recruiting from the port town. They would be the priority, the town itself could wait. Ry Vor would gamble on achieving a supremely decisive result, one that would be disastrous should his own force lose cohesion.
While still invisible with the army, Ry Vor would summon death himself to the battlefield. His most powerful incantation yet known throughout the Maelstrom sent rolling green waves of certain death down the slope and laid waste to the Hill Giants, the veteran Vikings, as well as a Pirate and Knights brigade (as it turned out), who perished, shrieking. That was as good a result of that powerful spell as could be hoped for. The Pirates had gone from an Army Group of eleven brigades to an army of seven brigades, with little if any combat experience in the surviving force, now in disarray.
Emerging from the shroud of invisibility rushed (in determined attack) the Necromancer army, with Ghouls in front terrifying the foes still scrambling to find their places. While the attackers closed the ground, Ral Zan Kroy executed a powerful layered illusion of blinding lights, ear-splitting high-pitched screeches, gale force winds and crackles of lightening: creating chaos throughout the Pirate camp – they would be unable to withdraw and their doom was sealed. Spectre of Doom was held in reserve, ready to raise zombies from the corpses of the Pirate force.
The battle itself was a brief display of horrific mutilation of the Pirates, many of whom had not yet found their britches when ripped apart by claws and fangs or impaled on pikes. They were destroyed to a man. Ry Vor gave a nod of approval to Spectre, who had raised four more brigades of Zombies from the ashes of the Pirates on the outskirts of the Ashes of Troy. Nothing quite like symmetry, he mused.
