Newbie Questions
#51
I was just thinking about that last night. Whats worst than hostile? Loathing. It reminded me of a Seinfeld episode lol. Would certainly require new charts for emissary activity. I saw elsewhere in the forum, might have been UncleMike? Said he thought all non player PC's should start out human controlled. I agree with that, out of populations need for survival they would cast their lot with whomever would provide that best chance and we know by human nature that someone ALWAYS steps up to try to take over control of the communities, people and resources. I seriously thought i had seen the word 'legendary' used somewhere in the vast material i have read, keep that word for future use. Im sure the constantly evolving Alamaze may use it for special encounter or new troop type, who knows? Thanks for your patience with me.

Can anyone explain to me the differences in the unusual sighting classes, what artifacts/rewards they might contain and the best way/heroes/wizards/tactics to use when dealing with them? Thank you in advance.

If you have not already done so, you'll want to check out the Calculators by Frost Lord document in the 3rd Cycle Documents at the very bottom center of the main page of the Order Entry Portal (which appears as soon as you have logged in). When you open this Excel sheet, you can click on the Unusual Sightings tab and then enter the information to tell you your chances of succeeding at Unusual Sightings based on your personnel, kingdom, magic items, and tactic.

But in general, the more leaders, wizards, and magic items you bring to the party, the better your chances. Anyone with the Adventuring trait has a big advantage as well. Valyrian Steel, and all magic weapons/shields/armor will help, so will the Rod of Fire and Wand of Lightning or the Green Dragon Mates. Of course, all except Valyrian Steel you have to first acquire at other Unusual Sightings or trade.

Enigma are the easiest as they are either automatically overcome (like finding a Portal) or can be overcome with the right Tactic setting (like a free wizard or the Great Bats artifact). Neither require any special personnel (you could succeed with a single Centurion and no wizards or magic items in the group or just an Adept).

Next easiest are Fine but will require you to bring some decent leaders (and perhaps a wizard or two) to succeed.

Next are Excellent which you will need really strong leaders (if no wizards) or a good collection of leaders and wizards.

Next is Superior which are REALLY tough. You'll need strong leaders and good wizards.

Finally, there is Quest which first require you getting a Key before you can even access this Unusual Sighting (though issuing a #140 order there will give the code to help find the Key). Once you have the Key, Quest can vary on difficulty, but I'd treat it as Superior to be safe.

Can an artifact be stolen from a human controlled pop center? The order description does not say definitively but the order asks for kingdom and defaults to "wild" and not human.

So everyone knows- the answer to this is no. Might be a good addition to the order description.

Another Newbie question:

The Rulebook states the following about Emissaries:
"They can relocate to another population center within their relocation range, the default of which is 8, increased by traits such as Riders (9) and Flight (10)."

As the Red Dragon I have the Flight trait, but this is not listed as a benefit in the setup under Flight. Do my Emissaries have a range of 8 or 10?

Thanks!

8 unless they have some artifact that changes it.
