My mistake, I too often confuse LD and LT for a second.  It's like a mental block like not remembering my friend's husband's name despite being told it a half dozen times.
Let me guess you have no problem remembering the wives names?

King Oban,

Since you accuse me of being unfair, I am willing to submit this to the opinion of the Giant. If he agrees that I am being unfair, I will find a way to eat the 10,000 gold cost for the artifact, as you have requested.

If not, then I will stand firm and we will see where the winds of fate take us.

Sincerely,

GI ---->  GN & DW

Can't really help with this one as I kinda tuned out;  it was getting pretty detailed and lawyerly.  Seems like if you want to maintain the peace the 50-50 shot without any spell attack is the best course.  If the value of the artifact to the GN is greater than the value of peace (or at least the threat of it setting off a larger war) then I suppose that would decide things for him.

Great King Stonethrower,

Fair enough, and your analysis matches my own... I'm aware that I have an advantage in the head-to-head matchup, there is no NAP between DW and GN, and I do consider the artifact to be important.

King Oban,

If you can propose a concrete and specific way for me to get the dagger to you without any charge to you and without undue King's time for our intermediary and the two of us, I am open to hearing it.

Otherwise, I'm afraid we are at an impasse.

Hey, Penis Nose and Bearded Lady - just midget up and fight each other already. You're enemies who hate each other's stumpy guts, remember?

Big Chief No Fart,

Your words are, as always, brutally honest, easily understood, and helpfully clarifying.

We will embark on that very assumption if we do not hear back from them very shortly.

Best,

Lord Bottlenose,

I regret I must put down my parchment and address other matters of more domestic import this evening.

I will set my wizards to protecting my leaders and will explore the encounter. You may either do the same or you can spend your energy trying to kill my leaders both this month and next. I'm unsure how the latter course helps you achieve anything, however it's your call to make.

Respectfully,

King Oban

Hail, Oban, Great Dwarven King of the Mountains!
Salutations, Bottlenose, Ambassador from the Honorable Ruler of the Gnomes!
Greetings to you both!

Your suggestions to strengthen ties with the Onyx Court are well-received. We do not, however, have any interest in placing ourselves in the midst of a family feud at this time. Accordingly, we will not chose one over the other, but gladly enter into NAPs with you both until the end of the next summer (T 25, I believe?). With which fair nation we develop more extensive ties, however, will depend upon the efforts, actions and events we observe and to what extent they signal a desire for lasting friendship.

With admiration for both of the Mountain Peoples,
Roris Rex,
Great Imperator of the Drow

Great Imperator,

Having heard his final rejection, I am reaching out to you now regarding our ancient enemies, the Dwarves. They have refused to come to an agreement with me, and are moreover explicitly threatening my holdings in Runnimede.

It is good, then, that I have resources and information of my own which may be of great usefulness to you, especially as the Dwarves have taken your village in the Talking Mountains and refused to cede his own town in your region.

As two nations with both ancient and current grievances against the Dwarves, are you willing to engage in common cause with me against them? If so, we should work on finding a common point of reference, as I have much information even now, obtained as a defensive measure, regarding the Talking Mountains. I am aware of numerous population centers in Arcania and Amberland based on publicly-disclosed information, perhaps we could use a town or village there as a common point of reference.

Or we could forego such subtleties and I could disclose the information immediately, for immediate action.

Please let me know if you are interested. I would specifically propose that control over the Talking Mountains be administered from your closer capital, rather than my own more distant one. We all need places to expand, after all, and my hope is that you are willing to take the opportunity before you without delay.

I also have the location of a Dwarven army in the plains that would be easy targets for your archers. I am confident I can prevent him from winning an artifact this turn, and if you can arrive this month, between my wizards and your troops and wizards, I'm sure we could put him to flight.

Best,
Bottlenose, for the Gnomes
