Man, this open diplomacy really nerfs the Underworld doesn't it? All of this talk of the Ward etc, but it'll be child's play to put your best agent on counter espionage as well.

OOC: We actually talked about this in #195, counterespionage and guarding don't help against early kidnaps. You're right on the entire 900 series of actions, but the way we've been doing this is for UN to have a general sense of what the buyer wants, which UN then executes at his discretion.

Arcura roared her passion and pleasure into the early morning sky as she scanned the valleys far below to find Khayon, the alpha wyvern, to impart instruction to the creature. Alamaze was once again an interesting world!

In a large rectangular banquet room with a huge table shaped as a sword. The Dark Lord on one side of the hilt and his High Mage on the other. Everyone around the table a little on edge as the Dark Lord has not been himself as of late. The Dark Lord asks his High Mage, "My Friend how goes our studies of the White Magics?" The High Mage honestly and to the point as he known the Dark Lord respects the most. "My Lord, though we gain greatly in power these spells do still elude us. We have tried to cast a bounty over the kingdoms fields but still they yield no extra fruit." The Dark Lord ponders a bit and replies, "The Eye great Mage does not channel magic of the earth and life as the Elf would teach magics come from. Perhaps you could try to summon cows instead to produce food. As you know this would be closer to our strengths. The Elves are wise and have been good to try and teach us some of their ways. But I suspect they are not for us. We can remain friends but I do not wish their magics to get in the way of our advancing along the true path set by the Eternal Eye. Now looking to the other side of the table at the point his 1st advisor sits, "Are the preparations made to send the Desert King foods he has requested?" The 1st Advisor, "Dark Lord I must protest why are we feeding these dragons? You let one keep a village in our lands and now you are going to send the other more than they can eat. Are you growing soft? Even the Underworld is being allowed a village. With the Giants now gone due to th...auuughh." With a single motion the Dark Lord stood up from his chair and motioned his hand forward as the table slide across the floor impaling the 1st advisor. Then the Dark Lord stood still as if absorbing the life energy that was depleting the now dead 1st advisor. With an evil smile on his face he spoke, "I told you not to speak of the Giants unfortunate departure. Dragon are majestic creature and we will give them the respect they have earned. I covered for my first advisor when he did not send food the first time to the dragons but can not tolerant this insubordination any longer." Looking to a tall slender man near the front of the table. "You Sir Torbin are now my 1st Advisor. Let the Desert King know his food is on the way." Sir Torbin "Thank you my lord, it will be done." The Dark Lord, "let us eat". Leaving his old advisor slumped over at the end of the table. WI - BL Yes Desert King the food will be sent. I will only send a month at a time to help keep it from spoiling.

RD-UN An extra village you shall have! The RA was kind enough to post the list of Our towns and villages in the Eastern Steppes (back on page 30) so why don't you just pick which one you want and take it? All the same to Us and that way others don't know which one you selected.

Lady SteelHawk peered forward from the saddle of her warhorse, her full armor glistening in the sun. "My lady, we are far too close to the battle.... royals should be not in harms way.... those are.... DRAGONS... over there" squeaked a lesser known noble. Lady SteelHawk did not divert her gaze but addressed the nervous nobleman anyway, "Those are my people down there in that town, it should be me that leads the cavalry charge down their western flank when these two armies clash". The noblemen, hearing this, nearly fainted with such a thought. "My lady, those days are over, you did your service to the military in your late father's early campaigns. As Queen, such an action cannot be risked, your own guard would not even permit it." This brought a furrowed brow and a rapid response in her brisk reply, "A Queen's place is at the front with her troops, changing this policy was the one error in judgment my father made before he died." The nobleman was aghast, "My lady, he did it for your own benefit, he knew this very day would come". The Queen winced, and gritted her teeth. She gave no reply but made a mental note that she would be taking up this policy with her Advisor Council next month, she was born for battle, her place on the field. After a long pause, she summoned her regimental commander. "Move us ........ a little closer". With that the noblemen did indeed... faint. RA -> BL --> UN Greetings Desert King, It gives me great joy to know that at any time there could be Black Dragons engaging their cowardly red brethren in my lands; and yes, I'm afraid it is true that the Red Dragons did beat a hasty withdrawal before the imposing Ranger Army. Their 4th Army is currently at UW and their 1st Army is somewhere in Synisvania but not at Jukanta or any of my holdings; the mountains at OW/OX are a likely spot. However, do not bother to announce when and where your troops will appear in my region, I would not want such information to reach the Scarlet Wyrm's ears nor would I want to constrain your options, wise king. Preparations are already underway for a massive feast for your troops upon their arrival in your honor, the likes of which will have no equal in the lands. As to the matters of Master Yoda, the optimal targets would be the RD Count Midronus at Jukanta (OV), the RD Baron Rio at QR, or any of the leaders/wizards in the 1st or 4th Armies. And then of course there are all the PCs available for the stealing of gold. I leave it to the UN to optimize his targets. And 26,000 gold, paid by BL, RA offers, for your count to kidnap. So 27,000 more gold, outbidding costs. For two turns, it will protect. If one or both outbidding, you want, tell Yoda just. And trade for 1 food, order I will, this turn. UN-BL Before more gold to be sending, be watching for outbidding. Same right you have, if targeting you RD decides.
RD-UN - Great are the coffers of the Red Dragon. We wish to pay for protection of Our count so please take him off the table. We also wish to pay in order to keep your agents away from our other assets. Look for many gold chests to be flown in your direction this month. We also will be sending a further 30,000 gold to bedevil our black cousins. Spend it wisely.

Glad, last minute checking I did. Not sure, I am, you are sending, how much exactly, so trick I learned from DW I do, trading 1 food for at least 27,000 gold. For this turn, safe you are. Hoping to receive, I am, at least 58,000 gold. If more than that, I receive, apply to credit, I will. UN-BL No need, you have, to send 30,000 gold, since outbidding option, RD has taken. |
