5342 Fall Unto Steel
Personally, kingdoms like PI and UN need to be able to do this for them to be viable. As long as the base details are outlined (e.g. "hey, I want you to go whack the warlord that dared to attack me") then the rest can be off the table. But the main stuff should be above board if it's a "forum" game. Just my opinion, though. I'd rather all games were 100% full diplomacy however we want to do that.

That was a nice summer break, but classes are starting again and I have to go back to campus. Happy to work with you again sometime.

I'd sell, but unfortunately the merchants that liked you enough to do that were the ones that didn't run away fast enough when you attacked them and sadly perished in your poorly-rationalized assault. The rest were further insulted by the fact that you also tried to include our wizards in the death toll. So, our stores are temporarily closed to you as our way of wiggling our chubby finger back in your direction. We will see if time truly heals all wounds.

Are you saying it feels personal?  :Smile

I wouldn't say it feels personal, but it was definitely opportunistic and in my opinion short-sighted. Not to say I wouldn't have done the same, but I wouldn't have tried to convince anyone that it was because I thought the other guy was engaged in hostile action. And dispelling spells from wizards that can't do much beyond defensive actions (shield, protect) goes beyond the "teach a lesson" line. Again, not to say I wouldn't have done the same. Now I get to retreat to my wound-licking as he did do enough to show me that his military far outmatches mine (no surprises there). He's the potentially hungry one, though, so I guess I have that going for me. Woohoo!

On a not-this-game level, I do like him. I'm just calling BS on his reasoning is all.  Big Grin Heart

I had no doubt that your merchants and your fair people would have zero interest in dealing with those evil rangers.  I wouldn't have expected them to want to work out a deal after my decision.  I see your finger Wagging, and can only imagine you might consider further action in retaliation for my actions.  I don't consider you an enemy, but will be wary of your intentions moving forward.

Important update: I have decided to change the official term to "finger waggling" as it seems more Halfling-appropriate. Please take note and adjust accordingly.

At this point, my plans remain unchanged... just with a few less mouths to feed. Now if only I knew someone that I could sell that excess food to that could use it... maybe I'll just double-feed my few remaining troops.

I know that PTM is a good guy and he knows it isn't personal.  He may not like my reasoning and in this game may decide that makes us not friends, but everything was above board and he was informed before I took action, so he knows it isn't personal and I have no doubt we will be on better terms in some games and worse terms in others.  Each game creates its own Friends and Frenemies.  As to my view that it was hostile intention, I would not consider taking a PC in someone's controlled region as a not hostile event.  to make matters worse, I offered up those PC's and no one wanted them.  It felt a little sneaky.  Not accepting the offer, and then moving on some PC's thinking that owning them might keep them under your control even though the region was controlled.  That was opportunistic on your part, and that is why I didn't feel bad about being opportunistic on my part.  Yes the dispelling of your wizards was a risk, but I left your Adept alone so you had the opportunity to save your leaders and wizards should I be able to destroy your group which I didn't think would happen.  It made sense he would go invis and thus you wouldn't lose your wizards should I destroy all your troops.  no defensive or offensive spells on your part meant that my attrition would be as minimal as possible.  If I truly thought I could wipe out your group knowing you would use a defensive tac of 1, I would have dispelled all three of your wizards to ensure their deaths.

We each have our reasons and take advantage of an opportunity when we think it is appropriate.  Your opportunistic decision was met with my opportunistic decision.  In the end, you gained more from it than I would think I did.  You still have a village (for the moment), and gained resources that should have been mine.  You lost some troops which weren't a huge loss.  I think you got the better of this one.......................
