We have noticed similar issues my big friend. the WA complains no NAP and the we offer him what he wants and get no response. We often wonder if the WA just likes to hear him self talk. crazy mage.

I'm baffled why anyone who would want to play this game absent the diplomacy, that's the richest part of the game, at least for me.

I have thoughts on forming alliances too, but thought I'd move that to another thread, no point cluttering up this game thread with meta-game chatter.

Different strokes for different folks.  I enjoy knowing that when I do well it is because my plans and strategies worked, not because I had more friends in the game then the other players.

Others enjoy the social aspect of the game.

It all works.

Gentlemen,
If Canticar can't be convinced to continue to play this game, I would be happy to take over his position. I have been following the posts and would honored to contribute ... unless, of course, you already have someone on standby.

I have made a formal request to transfer the DA position to Damelon, Mark Miller.

If the Powers-That-Be would confirm this soon, I would appreciate it. I'm sure the turn must be due soon and would have a lot of catching up to do ... not to mention the need to compose my first post in character!

OOC. I think should be fine to start doing your posts. Next turn is due Wednesday so you have a little time.

I'm not sure what you've noticed but it was not my intention. This format is challenging for people who want to play, but also have full time jobs, family, and that kind of stuff. So I tend to focus on in-character messages that I hope are humorous and paint my intentions by broad strategy. I think the game-mechanics-specific messages kind of ruin the flavor of the public diplomacy forum. But I haven't been able to avoid them entirely either. In any case, I was not "complaining" about the abscence of a NAP, but was just pointing out that you had specifically contacted other players about a NAP but not the Warlock. You are a very good player with lots of wins under your belt. I assume that you are eventually going to attack someone. If you've formed NAPs in every direction except mine, then it's kind of reasonable to assume you might be thinking about heading my way. If you have intentions to go some other direction then that's great.

There is no good reason whatsoever for me to attack anyone in this game for many turns to come. I'm sure that I'm going to get attacked at some point - and probably sooner rather than later. The silent Witchlord is the most obvious of the potential attackers but I really don't know. Could be that I've annoyed the Gnome so much that he won't be able to stand it Smile But I can absolutely, positively guarantee that I'm not going to attack anyone at this point. The reasons are fairly obvious: relative newb, exposed in the absolute middle of the map, playing a mage kingdom, and surrounded by more experienced players.

I appreciate your offer of a NAP, although a NAP until T10 or whatever is not that interesting. To me that just means that you are probably going to attack on turn 11 Smile

The Red Mage was very confused. An unusual situation for someone of his intellect. But these were unusual times.

"Didn't I provide specific instructions to our diplomats to tread lightly with the Trolls? How could they not have enjoyed the pyrotechnic farts?", he asked his aide Lightning Finger. "Send the diplomats back to the Trolls and I don't care how much they complain. Apologize for the boating incident on Turn 1 (who knew Trolls even knew how to use boats?!?!?) and let Chief No Fart know that I'm still unable to locate any message from him about a town in our region. Must be buried somewhere in the 200 messages that have been intercepted by our spies. In any case, let him know that we appreciate that he tried to help us and that we, in turn, will try to reciprocate as we are able. Let him know that we will keep his Troll Patrol (hee hee) under surveillance but that we won't make a big deal about it either."

Peace,
Red

We do not plan to attack you but not responding to my message or guessing what they said after the fact I do find insulting. If you have troubles getting to your messages we can do nothing more than to clearly putting at the top of our messages that the message is directed to you.

DA - The Crowned Heads of Alamaze

In each of the royal courts of Alamaze appears an embassy of ebon elves. Silver-tongued, onyx eyes glittering with star-fire, they call out ...

It is announced from the Onyx Imperium that the House of Canticar has been deposed! The Eastern Steppes has entered a glorious new age!

Long live the Ancient and Honorable House of Damelon! Long live its Great Imperator, His Midnight Majesty, Ruler of the Drow!

The Great Imperator wishes it to be known ...

With that, they kneel, open a large scroll of gray hide, tied with black cord and read ...

Hail, Brother Rulers of the Land, Sky and Sea! Our reign signals a new philosophy embraced by the Dark Elven people. We seek peace.

To the Doughty Dwarves and their Courageous King we say return our ambassador and you may keep our former villa in The Mountains as a sign of a new friendship between us. To the Virtuous Ranger, Defender of the Eastern Marches, we say remove your declaration of enmity (for it was with a tyrant, now overthrown, that you had quarrel), keep our town in your kingdom and allow us to obtain control of your village in ours. Let us be companions, facing the challenges of the new age together!

The sable lords rise, close the scroll, bow and disappear into the night.
