We have no agents or emmies at TA. It was granted in peace and will be yours as promised. We will recon this hex for you. I feel someone is trying to cause discention between us.
Master Sorcerer,
We druids must confess some confusion as to how it is the retreat we druids have owned since the beginning of this new age was promised to another, especially in light of the professed peace between our peoples.
Now when the Illusionist usurped our peaceful retreat we were certain he understood that it was owned by the druids. Nevertheless, we assumed the best and gave him the benefit of the doubt; maybe the mighty Illusionist was too deep into his studies to read the report from his underlings? Anyhow, we decided not to make an issue of it at that moment. One of our most ancient brothers continued to tend our groves at Temporary Atlantis and -- as in ancient times -- the great bounty of nature has ripened into a conscious pledge of fealty due to the ministrations of the humble druids.
We assure you, Mighty Sorcerer, that nowhere in the land is it our intent to sow dissension. In fact, should the Illusionist continue to desire our well tended retreat at Temporary Atlantis we are happy to make the location available to him on the exact same terms that were offered to him by our esteemed ally the Dread Necromancer. Simply declare the druids an Ally, unilaterally transfer 20k gold to us, and provide a standing order for 1/3 of the fleet production four turns later -- after the merchant fleets have been built to full capacity. Or he can provide to us a mutually acceptable counter offer.
I assume the peace between our two peoples remains fully in effect, notwithstanding the boorish usurpation by another of our ancient retreat. [There is no doubt that TA was offered in good faith. You certainly did not know it was owned already. The Illusionist should have informed you of this fact before usurping the location. One cannot barter away what one does not own -- such a deal is a tawdry illusion, nothing more.]
Yours in peace, the humble druid.
Druid,
The negotiations for the quaint village located at TA were done openly months ago. The appropriate paperwork was filed in full view of ALL the Kings and Queens of Alamaze and most certainly in public view of the Druids so you have no room to claim ignorance. And yet, no complaint or challenge was issued by the Druids at that time nor in the subsequent months that followed. Furthermore, you Druids could have simply sent an envoy at any time to contest the situation. You did not. Instead, after a legitimate, public transfer, YOU chose to rebel a Illusionist village without any prior protestation or diplomacy. As such you have unjustly declared war on the Illusionist people!
So you may undo this state of affairs by apologizing for your foment of rebellion on the Illusionist people, compensation for the loss of income through and until such time as my people reclaim TA, and no further interference with Illusionist lands. Otherwise, it will become clear to all the Kings and Queens of Alamaze that the words of the Druids mean nothing. That they will opt to break a deal, a publically agreed upon deal, whenever it suits them without bothering to first pursue diplomatic channels.
Now if you have issues with the Sorcerer about the TA village prior to our control, then I suggest you take that issue up with him. But for our part, we made a valid deal for lands in Torvale with the ruler of Torvale and this deal was prepared for ALL nobility to view and you had no objections then nor in the months that followed. The only illusion here is the trustworthiness of Druid words and actions.

Gnome King,
Given the unjust and illicit rebellion of Illusionist lands by the Druid people, it would seem that my shipping port in Torvale may become untenable for an extended period of time. Would you be willing to exchange coastal villages in the Seas of Mystery and Foreboding? I would be happy to extend our NAP or declare an alliance to further solidify this deal. It always pleases the Illusionist people to deal with "experienced" statesman who actually honor their word and agreements unlike warmasters of deceit.

My old Illusionary friend, if we had a spare port on Mystery available we would certainly entertain your company there. Regretfully, our holdings are slim indeed and we have already traded our last port to The Demon Lord for a port in Drowning. It does seem odd that the people of Oakendale would wait this long to dispute Tark's Advantage. If it was an issue I would have expected to hear about it earlier.
Respectfully,
Gnomish Trader

Great Druid
It was my error. I gained the region and did not recheck the starting ownership. I assumed that when it did not become mine that it was Human. I will gladly offer another village to Tark, and reimburse any income resource losses incurred by both the DU and the IL. No harm intended, just lack of a recheck.
Please let me know the compensation required and I will gladly pay reparations.

Great Mage,
How noble of you; your actions do you justice, unlike certain others! If you will send me the coordinates of a new sea/coastal PC asap I will get a Prince on the road immediately though it will take 2 turns each way plus the lost shipping income until the PC becomes IL controlled. All told that would be 64,500 gold. If you like, we could wait till my winter ends and we could do 3 consecutive gold gift exchanges (215 orders) at $100k per turn. The bonus gold I would receive from my Tricks of the Trade would cover your costs and you would not be out a single gold piece.

You may find a sea village of SO control at RA. The trades will be made, when you say! 3 x 100K on a 215 order. Also, how many turns did the Great Druid lose his village income, and if you don't mind telling me the food/gold you received as a result of his loss, so that I may repay him as well.
Thx

[The Great Druid sighs and shakes his head.]
Quicksilver,
All know that one may NOT purchase something from anyone other than the owner.
All assertions to the contrary are . . . false.

We think TA may prove to be a very expensive resort for whoever just moved in there. Perhaps it should be named Tark's Adventure? If the small folk can be of any assistance to either of you neighbors please send a pigeon.
Gnomish Trading Company
Lord of the Gnomish Trading Company,
After review of the many messages disseminated in the early months of this new age it is clear to us simple druids that not once did the Gnomish Trading Company promise to another something which it did not own. Nor, as far as we can tell, did the Gnomish Trading Company stand aside and let another take -- free of charge -- that which it did own.
It is imperative that the very foundation of business transactions -- i.e. ownership -- be supported by all those who favor free trade throughout the land. Should the illusion of ownership replace actual ownership as a basis for business transactions we fear that such a system would eventually devolve into chaos and anarchy. We shudder to think of the world of Alamaze in such a state.
The humble, peace-loving druids. GN -DR
Greetings WARMASTER
As humble traders we appreciate your respect for free trade on the shared waters of Mystery. Peace be with the Eldest of Oakendale.
Peace to the gnomish people as well.
May your trade always be favorable and your winds always fair.
Free trade shall always flourish upon the shared waters of Mystery. At least until one of us in the West is forced to build Triremes instead of merchant vessels.
The humble druid.

Mighty Sorcerer,
There is no compensation required, nor reparation sought, for the oversight which resulted in an innocent error. [It was not you who usurped my village when the preliminary title report clearly showed it was owned by someone other than the one with whom a deal was struck.] As always, peace is all that is sought by the humble Oakendale druids. Maybe it is possible to extend our 20 turns of peace until turn 40 (game completion) to demonstrate clearly to all of Alamaze that friendship is more valuable than mere gold? If you so desire we could formalize the agreement by declaring each other allies; although this step is not required as your word that we shall remain at peace is sufficient assurances to we simple nature-loving druids.
The humble druids.
