Man, the more I look at the Maelstrom map, the more I like it and kind of get lost in the possibilities of any kingdom in any zone.

Yeah, quiet. I've vacillated on solutions, but the current (old) server seems kaput. Then we considered various options but I think the most expeditious to get things going again is to stay with Soft Layer with a new server and operating system. Mike had a bunch of questions that I am hoping he got answers for from the company, so if so I can order the new server tomorrow and then it will be some work to get the migration done. So I might guess a week?
I'm happy to discuss Maelstrom in the meantime, and again, I think except for our new players, everyone can probably use this break. Again, I will roll back the renewal dates for subscriptions for the downtime. I appreciate the suggestions about doing a crowd funding, but its kind of a new thing to learn while I am just trying to get us up and running again. Maybe for the next game.

Sure. Mainly I want us to get it right, and Mike has questions I can't answer. I was on the phone with Soft Layer early this morning to adjust his account there to give permissions for tickets and server changes which I thought had already been done long ago. I'm hoping Mike will now have what he needs to move us ahead.
We started with Soft Layer (then The Planet) back in 2003 with the development of Fall of Rome. This attack a week ago is the first time we've had more than a few minutes of downtime. While migrating the Alamaze files is the clear priority, I don't want to lose the Fall of Rome code. FoR is on a Linux box, whereas the website and Alamaze code are on a Microsoft box that we are replacing. This forum is hosted independently by a different company.

I think I am experiencing withdrawal. I am playing chess with my 7 YO daughter to help fill in the missing need for strategy. If she starts beating me "for Real" I may have to seek professional help.

I know, the Gray Mouser misses the two games he was in that were getting to a climax, so to speak. Hang in there.
Meanwhile, Maelstrom remains under development and can be discussed. If we do go so any of more than 24 kingdoms can be in any of the 12 regions, is there an exploit to be had? Should some kingdoms not be allowed in certain regions? Anyway, lets post about that in the Maelstrom threads so this one can stay to updating server status.

New server seems to be up and running fine here on the West coast. Only game 552 did not have my already saved orders.
Awesome job UM. As always a speedy turn around.

All is well with new server for all my positions! All prior game orders were saved! Sweet! Have reset Ready status for all games!

I have not been able to sign on for my turns. I followed Uncle Mike's directions nd still nothing.
