I started building a CSS version of the map last night and I thought I'd share my work so far. It's not as pretty as the original and it's still under development, but I wanted to be using a map that was more basic and more easily editable. My plan was ultimately to use this as a way of tracking groups, people, towns, villages etc, using a tooltip to reveal extra details, as this will be easier for me than printing a document, or using Powerpoint or Paint.
I may have made any number of mistakes but in particular the following:
- spelling of cities/regions
- the terrain on city squares
- on the original there are a couple of areas where it's not 100% clear which terrain should be used
If this is useful to anyone I would be grateful for any error spotting or general feedback!
N.B. I've been viewing this in Chrome on the Mac OS X... no idea how it looks in other browsers.
I did put Viperhead and Avalon on water. I wasn't sure whether the terrain on these locations was plains or water (if they are accessible by navy then those areas ought to be water, as I see it). Conversely, I wasn't sure if Meridon and Lorethane were also water based, or forest or plains. I am brand new to the game and the map (just started #105) so these are handy issues for me to be corrected on!
In terms of editing... yes, my eventual plan was to make it simple for anyone to download and edit. To be honest you wouldn't really need to know HTML to add stuff, if you were just copying elements that were already there. You could do this in Notepad or any basic text editor. But, theoretically, once I've added elements like towns, villages, and units, I intended to move onto building a form on the right which would allow you to add them yourself in the browser rather than in a text editor.

Both Avalon and Viperhead are on land and not accessible by water. None of the cities are truly water based.
