Small Changes to existing orders
#1
With the growing number of new game formats there are a few small changes to existing orders that would enhance game play.

1. Sell food on the open market - due to the number of anonymous games there is a need to change this order to a more realistic 2 food for 1 gold. I understand the reasoning for the 3 gold for 1 food in the past was to encourage interaction with other players but this does not hold true in this new game format. The existing rule hinders military growth for those kingdoms in the north while the suggested change would still encourage player interaction in non-anonymous games.

2. Group search for population Center - with Exploratory games becoming more common and possibly the standard for the future this order would become much more useful if a kingdom could specify the type of pop center it was looking for. By adding an attribute to the order the group would stop at the first Town or village it finds depending on the desire of the kingdom. The group would still report the other pop centers it finds but it would not stop unless it found the desired type of pop center.

I dont know for certain but it seems that it would not be too difficult to make these modifications to the existing orders.

Any thoughts?

On the first change. It is called food not gold you eat it. Besides turning every kingdom into a halfling what happens to those northern kingdoms that are starving because all the southern kingdom will not trade them food because it is just to valuable.

I kind of like the second change but not sure it is worth delaying 3rd cycle or other changes like ESO and SVC.

Leaving out the sarcasm, I agree with Jumpingfist. I don't see a reason to change the trade ratio. I would love to see the open market eventually adopt the Fall of Rome formula that changes with supply and demand, but not if it delays other development.

I'm okay with the 2nd change because it gives the players more options. It always comes back to having options with me. Smile

Please do not take any of my comments as a personal insult or as a criticism of the game 'Alamaze', which I very much enjoy. Rather, I hope that my personal insight and unique perspective may, in some way, help make 'Alamaze' more fun, a more successful financial venture, or simply more sustainable as a long-term project. Anyone who reads this post should feel completely free to ignore, disregard, scorn, implement, improve, dispute, or otherwise comment upon its content.

I like the idea that you should not have to spend 3 gold for 1 food when you are buying it. The idea that you sell food in the south during the winter for 3 food to one gold on the open market suggests that the global value of food is nowhere near 3 gold.

I think you should be able to purchase food for 1-2 gold.

I think this will improove game balance for both the north and south.

I also like the idea of being able to search for a town vs. a village.
