Thanks for explaining your point in greater detail, I think I totally get it, now. I'm guessing the only significant point of distinction between us is that I would still rather have a flexible jack-of-all-trades with an emphasis in magic, than the alternatives.
To put it another way, I'm focusing more on game balance and (my perception of) the chances of winning, more so than the very good thematic points you're raising.

Fortunately, Alamaze has become anything but static. It is always possible that the next upgrade, the next tweak, the next new spell, or the next trait could bring back that feeling taht LT feels is missing now.
I still say include the intrinsic abilities. It will make the wizards more valuable and their loss more painful.

Okay I was thinking about Dire Wolf. If I remember correctly, having more than one agent performing CE or Guard which ever one rolls first you start at that level and then add the other agent % based on the first So if I have an agent 4 and agent 11, I could potentially have less protection than just the agent 11 by itself. With that in mind, how does and is dire wolf going to impact this as it is at 211 and all the agent orders are after this?
