I think Frost Lord is well along with the 3rd Cycle Player Aids. He told me he would be busy about this time of year but what he had done looked great: I'm sure players will be pleased. There has been plenty of communication between Uncle Mike and Frost Lord to ensure the new tools will accurately reflect the code.
We're also hoping Lord Diamond can add the icons to the Centuaria map Ralf did. I agree with Uncle Mike that it takes a bit of inspection to find the cities, but that will be second nature quickly and its just an art above my ability regarding what Ralf did.
The Gray Mouser tells me he is with Lord Thanatos, and only uses the calculator on rare occasions, sometimes to his chagrin. (Not to compare him to the two time defending Warlords Champion.) The philosophy is to enjoy an adventure strategy game, rather than grind through calculations, but since some players know the nuances, we publish the player aids to try to balance things. Its sort of a dilemma. Its possible in Kingdoms of Arcania we will mix things up, but on the other hand, we think it works pretty well now.
One thing you might expect in the next release is a fifth regional reaction. Fall of Rome had seven. Also, there was a separation between Influence, how effective political emissaries are, and Rulership - how many orders may be issued. It adds to strategy as to what the Ruler should do.
There will be another new map, new agent orders including revamping fanatics, as well as adding poison, revamping sabotage, diversion, new health status (such as seriously wounded), changing regional control to 60%, likely replacing four of the 2nd Cycle carryover kingdoms, new character types such as Sage and Engineer and Dragon and Giant.
But that is a ways off. Meanwhile, lots to enjoy in The Choosing and in the Duel games that just started.
