Hmmm, noticed a comment about emissary marriage on the new public diplomacy game, and it seems to ring a bell. Like, wasn't there an order for that and didn't it have some effect? Can't remember and cannot find any order that marries emissaries. Just curious. Any such order, or just in-character comments?

I was assuming it was just an in-character comment.
Back in the 80's, I think there was a marriage concept, but I don't remember it being in place for a looooooong time, if ever.

Mawwige... Mawwige is what bwings us togeva today...
I know I never bothered to try using it. Of course, now if it were to be revamped, there would have to be the possibility of gay marriage. Equal rights in Alamaze!

The original idea was that a marriage would create an unalterable alliance, sort of like the inverse of natural enemies. It could be bargained for and treated like a trade arrangement. There were other aspects to it, but in general it was not one of the best ideas for Alamaze, perhaps in another game. With the community ideology pretty much that NAPS are the core to diplomacy, and any duplicity should result in banishment, there really wasn't much reason for Marriage.
